Supreme Dalek Brings in 36,000 for Charity

Historical Dalek from Doctor Who sold at auction for 36,000 (that's about $64,000 US at the current exchange rate) at Bonhams in London with the proceeds going to The Great Ormond Street Hospital.

While today it sports the blue, silver, and black colours, it didn't always... because this Dalek has had a history with Doctor Who that goes back for more than a quarter of a century. After being blown up in Destiny of the Daleks, it had to be repaired although scorch marks are still visible on it today from the incident. It joined the waxworks figure of Tom Baker in the Madame Tussaud's exhibit in 1980. For the 20th anniversary, it was used as the Dalek Supreme featured on the Radio Times cover in 1983. The following year, it was re-painted black and white for Resurrection of the Daleks and then made it's final role in the series with Revelation of the Daleks in 1985.

Today, it has been restored to it's Madame Tussaud's appearance and was sold in a private sale for more than three times for what it was estimated for and will be placed in the reception area of the Bucks-based communication agency Indeprod which purchased the Dalek.
