A piece of television history will be auctioned at Christie's auction house on the 14th of December. A TARDIS minature measuring 17 inches which was first used in Doctor Who in 1965 is expected to pull in 6,000 ($10,532). Constructed by the BBC visual effects department, this model was last used on screen within an episode in 1970 with Jon Pertwee's debut story Spearhead from Space.

The TARDIS prop was used once again in the world renowned Tom Baker opening title sequence.

According to Christie's this particular model was built by Ron Oates.

The holidays are here, and this would make a perfect gift for that special Doctor Who fan in your life... perhaps one that posts news articles to the Gallifreyan Embassy site... and does a little weekly podcast... You know what I am saying? Hint, hint.. ;o)

In addition to the TARDIS, other items being auctioned include a Stormtrooper helmet(s) from Star Wars and a Hogwarts school gown from Harry Potter.

Hey Sean, this would make a perfect prop for you if you continue with Doctor Who photo-stories such as Doctor Who: The Second Key. ;o)
