Tom Baker was voted the 4th most recognizable voice in the UK after the Queen, Tony Blair, and Margaret Thatcher in a recent poll. Now Tom Baker will be even more recognizable serving as the voice for mobile text messages sent to home phones from British Telecom (BT).

He was chosen because his voice is so recognizable. Baker's voice is also heard as the narrator in the popular series, Little Britain.

Baker, now 72 years old recorded 11,593 phrases spanning 11 days covering every single sound in the English language.

Tom Baker reports, "It's a big responsibility to be Britain's voice of text. What appeals to me most is the thought that I will be bringing good news to people whether it is a cheeky message, a birthday greeting, or just a quick hello. Whatever it is, hopefully my voice will bring a smile to people's faces."

If he was working eight hour days, that's two phrases a minute. Nice work Tom!
