Since the new sereies starting running on Sci-Fi there's been a lot of talk about the commerical breaks. I think we'd all ratehr watch Doctor Who without ad breaks but we also realize that that's how networks like CBC or Sci-Fi pay for the show. There's not much point in being upset that there are ads but we can definitely be vocal about how the ad breaks are handled.Of course I have not seen the show on Sci-Fi but I did watch on CBC and I was mostly impressed with how they did things.

For example...When Rose aired on CBC there were a total of four ad breaks in the broadcast.

Break One - Ad starts after Mickey tosses the arm in the bin/the next segment starts with the alarm going off on day two of the story.

Break Two - Ad starts after the Doctor's speech to Rose and the dematerialization of the Tardis/the next segment starts with Rose arriving at Mickey's flat.

Break Three - ad starts after Rose and Auton Mickey drive away from Clive's house/the next segment starts with Rose and Mickey in the restaurant.

Break Four - ad starts after the signal starts being broadcast from the London Eye/the next segment starts with Clive shopping with his family.

Overall I thought these were pretty natural breaks in the action to pick for breaks. Also there were no edits or cuts to put in mroe ad breaks and Christopher Eccleston recorded special intros for each episode.
