Doctor Who News The debut of the latest series of Doctor WHo approaches on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Doctor Who will retain its Monday nights at 8:00pm (8:30pm in Newfoundland) timeslot.

The CBC has tentative plans to broadcast the 2006 Doctor Who Christmas special The Runaway Bride from 8:00pm to 9:30pm on Monday June 11th, 2007. The broadcast depends on the NHL Stanley Cup Finals lasting less than seven games. The Anaheim Ducks currently lead the series over the Ottawa Senators 3 games to 1 so if the Ducks win on either Wednesday the 6th or Saturday the 9th the series will be over and Doctor Who will air on June 11th. If the series goes to a seventh game The Runaway Bride will be rescheduled.

Either way broadcast of the 2007 series on the CBC will start on Monday June 18th, 2007 at 8:00pm with Smith and Jones.

The CBC is currently airing a promo that contains clips from The Runaway Bride, Smith & Jones, The Shakespeare Code and Gridlock.

The Ducks won the Stanley Cup (yeah!) last night so that means Runaway Bride on Monday June 11th on CBC!

What ever happened to the second series. I was watching it up to The Impossible Planet, then it stopped being showed. I must Thank you for appearing on Podshock 37, you answered two of my long time questions. What was the history of Doctor Who being broadcasted on Canadian television, and is there a Doctor Who group that meets in Calgary.

I found the local Doctor Who group in Calgary on DWIN's WEB page, and I am attending my first meeting this Saturday.

    Cheers

Oh, by the way, I just heard you on Podshock 50 today. Great stuff. Only 33 Podshocks to go. Then it will be time to catch up on Whocast and the MMM programs.

Any other Podcasts I should try and find?

Like pretty much all network shows Doctor Who took a break on the CBC over Christmas. After the holidays the show came back for the final five episodes. This made sense for me. What didn't make sense was the terrible job the CBC did of letting people know the show was going off and when it would be coming back.

When I talked with CBC Audience Relations earlier in the week they assured me that Runaway Bride would be aired on Monday June 11th if there was no hockey. Today they have updated their schedule to indicate that something other than Doctor Who will be shown and added the following to their Doctor Who page:

"Also, don't miss the 2006 Christmas special "The Runaway Bride", airing after the season premere, at midnight, June 18."

I don't know what is going on anymore.
