    Embassy News

As many of you have noticed, the site was down for the most part of the day today. It is back up and going for the time being, and we are hoping it will stay that way.

    Read more below.

The site reported a SQL error. Checking the logs, it is hard to determined exactly what specifically happened other than the SQL database that the site relies on was corrupted. Even after repairing it, we could not get the site back up. One of the tables in the SQL database seemed to have all it's structure and data lost. That table specifically needed to be rebuilt and repopulated with its data.

Amazingly, this was done with an older SQL database file for the site, and it worked!

We were fearing that we would have to go back to an old backed up database file from January. Meaning everything from mid-January to now, the end of March would have been lost.

Let's hope the site is all fixed and running as it should (or at least how it was prior to the crash). Perhaps this may be a good time to open a discussion on upgrading the entire site.

Thanks for everyone's patience, and thank you for those that brought the site's status to our attention.

    Thanks Louis.

I didn't send an email as sometimes with my service provider - a site can appear to be down but it isn't - I had this happen a few times - especially with TalkShoe - something to do with the IP address not being resolved or something - David B. talked about in the latest 'Sharing Strategies

Glad the site is back up -- thanks for all the effort in sorting it out. daveac
