One of the premiere forerunners in bringing HD content to homes in the US, founded by Mark Cuban and GM Philip Garvin in 2001, HDNet has made a deal for the high definition (HD) rights for Torchwood. HDNet has acquired the rights for the first 26 episodes (presumably series 1 and series 2) of the Doctor Who spin-off series Torchwood.
HDNet will begin airing Torchwood starting on the 17th of September, Monday nights at 7pm ET with encore showings at 10pm and 1am (to accommodate west coast viewers).
HDnet president and co-founder, Mark Cuban said, "We're thrilled to be airing Torchwood in HD. This is certainly a Russell T Davies signature show. Torchwood explores adult themes and doesn't shy away from anything. Whether it's the diverse storylines or the hero's ambivalence to sexual boundaries, this is not your typical show, and I love it."
