    Embassy News

Happy Birthday to Us, Happy Birthday to Us, Happy Birthday Gallifreyan Embassy.... Happy Birthday to Us!

It was twenty three years ago today that the Gallifreyan Embassy was founded. We are approaching our quarter century mark, and we are still going strong. This new interactive site that took the place of the previous static site three years ago just passed the five million marker in hits. Our podcast, Doctor Who: Podshock is downloaded and listened to by thousands.

Thank you all. To all our website visitors and listeners and supporters - Ambassadors all - Thank You.

It was a different time in 1985. We had Ronald Reagan as President in the US and Magaret Thatcher as Prime Minister in the UK. We were in the middle of the John Nathan-Turner era of Doctor Who, just a year and half after the big 20th anniversary of the series. Doctor Who had been spreading like wild-fire here in the US on local PBS stations. Doctor Who focused conventions began to appear across the country. It was only natural that fans began to organize and thus sprouted many local Doctor Who fan clubs and organizations. It was mid-June, that the Gallifreyan Embassy was founded and flyers were posted, meetings were organized, a printed newsletter was generated, complete with membership cards and pins, etc.

Today, thanks to the technology we enjoy now and of course the internet, many of those things have gone digital. Also gone are the annual membership dues. But we still rely on support through donations from you, our visitors, our listeners, our Ambassadors. Thank you for your continued support and allowing us to continue to come together and celebrate our passion for Doctor Who.

    Glorious warfare!

The bravery of idiots is bravery nonetheless.
