I'm not really defending season 24 - I'm defending McCoy in season 24. Personally I much prefer his physical comedy and light-hearted character in those stories, although I appreciate that quite a few people don't. My favourite McCoy moment is when he tries to console Ray in "Delta And The Bannermen" and can't quite manage it. It's a lovely scene IMO and I think it gets overlooked in favour of darker scenes in the last two years.
