Hey Darth,
These live episodes are not on the main feeds.... What the original plan had been (and yep, there has been more than one) was that these live episodes were going to polished in post production and put in the main feeds, and all the non-episode review live shows we had been doing (i.e. reviewing each Doctor's era and so forth) were going to spun off to it's own live podcast called Doctor Who: Podshock Unbound. But since at the time these live shows (reviewing the 2008 series) were being recorded, my time was being monopolize working around the clock launching & producing another podcast as well as building a massively content laden website for a convention tour that in the end went nowhere unfortunately. I didn't have the time to do any post work on these live podcasts reviewing the episodes of the 2008 series. So it was then decided to revise the plan and just keep these on the live feed as they are now.
Due to a change in Talkshoe's policy (and how this policy was retroactively put in place), it was no longer going to be feasible to do the spin-off live show as originally planned. So it has currently been put on hold for the time being.
These live shows were meant to be proper Doctor Who: Podshock live episodes, but it was felt that they would stay on the live feed being that they are in their live raw state and to in part accommodate those listeners that prefer the studio shows on the main feed.
The live shows remain very popular. In fact, one of the most popular episodes by far we put out in the last year is in fact a live show. The upcoming Christmas special and the 2009 series will all be included in the main feeds (we are talking, what? Four episodes). The same is probably going to be true for the 2010 series which as we all know will be a full complete series again. But anything can change from now to 2010.
But wait, there's more... (just when you thought it couldn't get any more confusing). Being the situation with the Unbound podcast as it is, sometime during the recording of these live shows reviewing the 2008 series we considered just making the existing live feed the live spin-off series. I think this is where the confusion comes in. If this is the case, and it very well may be, the two podcasts would run parallel to each other going forward. I think this may be where your comment comes in. I also believe this is where we last left it as well. It would mean going forward we would use the existing live feed (via Talkshoe) to record new live podcasts and these shows would be separate to themselves and not be part of the chronological series of the original podcast. However, we would still use Talkshoe for special episodes that WOULD be part of the original podcast. These special episodes would include episodes such as roundtable reviews of a series, reviewing of new episodes/specials after they are transmitted, or if we have a guest that would like to join us for a live-over-the-net interview. In the end, Talkshoe is simply a set a of tools we utilize for original show. Any spin-off shows resulting from it, is an added benefit. That's why Unbound was going to on it's own feed on to itself - so it wouldn't be confused with the original show.
I know it's all confusing. It's hard for me to even keep it all sorted in my head at times.
Cheers,
Louis
