There are some interesting parallels between this new series (2005 & 2006) of Doctor Who and the Pertwee era. Both started with an Auton invasion and have been mostly Earth-based with a number of stories involving UNIT. It looks like we'll all have to wait for The Satan Pit to see our first alien planet... I did not pick up on them until listening to the latest American Who interview with Barry Letts.
