Sure, but the Sci Fi Channel has a financial interestin in Doctor Who succeeding too... otherwise why buy it?

And it can replace Battlestar Galactica once its season is over.

It makes no sense to me for them to buy a show, and then not promote it, making not even the least effort to help ensure the show doesn't tank.

After all, this is SciFi, not Fox.

True, last year the CBC really demonstrated how committed they were to the new series. They put development money into Doctor Who before the series started shooting. This was long before they knew that Doctor Who would be replacing hockey. At the end of the day they promoted the show not because of development money or the hockey lockout but because they wanted people to watch.

A year later I assume that since Sci-Fi is plugging Doctor Who into the Galactica timeslot (theit top rated show) that they also really want people to watch. As this is the case I'm surprised as some of the things I have heard from the US about the frequency of the promotional campaign. This isn't from me (I don't get Sci-Fi) but from fans in the US.
