First I should say that on some level I enjoyed every episode of the first series and think they are all worthwhile. Over the last year I've swung back and forth as to whether WWIII or Boomtown is weaker. Now with a full year to look back I have to go with WWIII. It just doesn't seem very ambitious and at times is at times overtly political in a way that I don't think Doctor Who needs to be. I enjoyed Aliens of London a lot more than I did WWIII.

The rating of 3/5 might feel a bit low to some people but I think the only way for ratings of 4/5 or 5/5 to have meaning is if something else rates lower.

Btw, I think it's more than fair to give different ratings to each part of the two part stories since with this new series the episodes can function as individual episodes as well.
