Doctor Who: Podshock - Episode 85

Well we certainly did not stop anyone from discussing more details of this episode. We went around to everyone and then the live callers as we usually do. No one was cut off. Anyone was free to jump in to discuss more aspects of this episode itself. We gave the opportunity for everyone to say what they wanted about this story. So if more was not discussed about the episode itself, it was not for the lack of trying or opportunity in this podcast.

We can always go back into any aspect of this story in our next two reviews as it seems the story-line will continue, as well as the series review podcast discussion after episode 13.

    Cheers,
    Louis

Doctor Who: Podshock - Episode 85

    Heh, it's kinda funny.

I actually enjoyed this Podshock more than any other—probably because a) I
wasn't in it and b) I could listen to it at a sane hour of the day.

That aside, what endeared it to me was all of the speculation. Sure, points
about the episode itself were missed—they always are—but overall it seemed
that everyone was having fun and the long list of respondents was being
    handled in an efficient manner.

I wonder if part of Taras' discomfort with the episode was that, being
relatively spoiled, he knew that most of the speculation was in fact quite
wrong-footed. He therefore possibly felt that this Podshock was doomed to
look silly months from now when people are downloading the episode for the
first time long after all the speculation present in the episode has been
proved false. As he quite rightly pointed out the things of value to point out
about hte episode were Jacobi's performance, the efficacy of the Futurekind
as a storytelling device, the relevancy of Jack, and other elements that were
actually, and not merely potentially, on-screen.

It's probably fair and true to say that the rampant speculation present in this
this Podshock gives it limited replay value.

But as a snapshot of the emotion, interest, and imagination fired by "Utopia"
on its day of first broadcast, it'll make a fascinating record.
