I would venture to say it would have been a rarity in the US television industry as well... until recently at least. Just tonight during "prime-time" television hours ABC ran "A Charlie Brown Christmas" -- yet it was just on at the same time last week. Granted, it is a classic holiday special, but when I was a kid (a couple years ago) this was unheard of, if you missed an airing, you would have to wait until next year (in this case of "A Charlie Brown Christmas") before they would repeat it again. Encore presentations seem fairly common today... even before the current writers strike.
