Depending on the exact start date of the 2006 series on the BBC, the two will probably be overlapping each other. So while US viewers are watching the 2005 series, UK viewers will be watching the brand new 2006 series.
Whether or not and when the 2006 episodes come to the Sci-Fi Channel would be dependent on how well the 2005 series does on the channel I would imagine.
