The overwriting of DNA and it's effects seem to come too late and then had to be resolved too quickly because the end was coming. Of course the Cd Extras right in the middle didn't help.
I also think that my expectations and trepidations about the new format hindered.
I expected it to be punchier than it was and I was (at the same time) concerned that it would be squeezed. I personally had no real problem with the old format. Yes; it could be bloated but when the story was good...........
Whether it was the story, the lack of companion or just the format I didn't think there was enough "wow factor" for a launch.
I think I would have found Urgent calls interesting wherever it was for some of the same reasons that you have mentioned but also the feeling that you were hearing something that (for a variety of reasons) that you wouldn't normally hear.
This play gave the feeling that you were overhearing something.
