I was totally thrown.
People don't hear from one ear, they hear from both, with one hearing a stronger signal if it's off to the side.
So I suggest a third option: PARTTIAL STEREO.
The host on the left should sound like he's on the left, but not 100% from the left channel. Perhaps a 70/30 or 60/40 split may work, and the opposite from the host on the right. The host in the middle, or guest speaker, or feature article contributor, etc... should be 50/50, or middle.
It's rather difficult to listen to when a voice is coming entirely out of one channel.
Just a thought.
