I know they're making them, I've even read the descriptions of them, but WHEN will they be released?!?

Does anyone have any sort of release schedule for these?

I'm collect the Doctor figures, but none of the multitude of others (companions, enemies, etc.) so I'm just getting anxious!

Yeah I'd be very interested in collecting those. I don't want to begin collection the new series stuff because there is just so much of it - It'll be cool to see they're take on the old characters.
Anyone know what company to watch? --Billy

Character Options is doing the classic series Doctors as well. I've been doing some research and it appears we'll see the first wave in May of this year. Should include the 4th, 5th and 6th Doctors as well as other 'non-doctor' characters/enemies.

Not sure if May is the UK release date or US, but either way they should be available online from someone around May.

I'm saving my pennies now!

I'd heard they were due "Spring 08".

There's no way of knowing how accurate that is. All of the releases seem to come either a few weeks early, or a few weeks late - and it's generally totally random as to which way round that works.

Lots of pictures of them here: http://www.doctorwhotoys.net/classics.htm

They include Doctors 4, 5 and 6 and a range of 'monsters' - a zygon, a sea devil, the robots of death, Magnus Greel and Mr Sinn. The next wave icludes a battle Dalek, a tenth-planey cyberman and monsters from season 12 (probably sontaran, davros, cyberman and the giant robot).
They look fantastic especially the Tom Baker model. Love to see some earlier monsters in there e.g a draconian, an ogron, alpha centuri and some companions (sarah jane with detachable spider?).
Then the big question of course: once bought should they be left in the box in a state of perfection or opened and risk a six-year-old daughter laying her hands on them?

The correct answer of course is that you buy two - one for playing with and one for best Smile

I just saw the Magnus Greel and Mr Sin figures and my toes curled in excitement. Can't wait for the Tenth Planet Cybermen either!

Has anyone bought any of the Weta Collectibles yet? Or are they just a little too expensive?

I've looked mored closely and each figure comes with a part of the Giant Robot. get them all and you complete the extra figure.
Top three 'must do monsters's in the future for me are:
1. Draconian

3.Morbius
Any other ideas?

Check out the £350 Unearthly Child Tardis here

The Revenge Of The Cybermen Leader here

The fourth Doctor here

And Lynx here

Other's in the range are a sonic screwdriver, a cyberman and the classic series Tardis console.

I love the Robot. As a monster it was big favourite as a kid (upon broadcast), but as I got older it was one of the things that lost it's menace. Now I've come full circle and I'm back where I started.

In toy museums, museums generally and any sort of retro shops, they'll often have a very traditional boys toys kind of robot, very similar in appearance to the K1 Robot. I've often thought about picking one up, but I never did. I won't need to now.

I suspect these haven't done as well as CHaracter (and the individual retailers) would've hoped.

When new figures are out, in the first 3 or 4 weeks at least, there is always a real scramble to get them. It doesnt matter where you go, it's a bit of a lottery.

I thought these would be REALLY hard to get, but I've seen all 8 of them in 3 different retailers since they became available about a week ago. In addition to that, I've just noticed that Galaxy 4 already have a couple of them on sale! (under the guise of "army building").

Yes, I am just not sure if the exclusive engagement with Forbidden Planet (UK) is limited to just the UK or not. I say that because the last time I checked (a while ago) they were not allowed to sell them overseas, which makes me wonder if there is another deal in the works for outside of the UK. I don't know.

The various retailers are only living up to their distribution rights. When Underground Toys got the US rights, the UK retailers now need to pay more attention to not overstepping their rights, lest they lose them to others.

I suspect that the exclusives may eventually make it to the US market, but we may have exclusive retailers in the US getting exclusivity in this market (possibly, like an Alien Entertainment).
