TALONS OF WENG CHIANG 4—5
Things are moving now and then they slow down somewhat to do that little thing called plot. I love how the Doctor brings Leela to the show, how Leela saved at least one of the girls, how Weng Chiang moves his lair and disconnects from Chang…and Litefoot seems to lead a charmed life…surviving an attack from Mr Sin somehow. Sin remains one of the best villains the show had ever had. Leela prepares for an ambush and seems almost sympathetic to Chang when Chang dies. That said there is a lot of back and forth in these two episodes and the stupid Jago and Litefoot are captured and recaptured…something apparently happened to rejuggle parts of five and six so they had to fill in five with filler stuff about the dumb waiter escape. Truth is I can barely remember most of what happened in these two episodes but I do know they were entertaining and didn’t bore me. Again, Tom and Louise are just excellent and the sets are grand. Poor Casey. Too bad Jago wasn’t killed instead of him. Oh, and there’s a few deaths going on to make the bad guys look dangerous and they do look dangerous. Leela gets a GREAT cliffhanger, that’s three but not in a row. For ep4 we get Weng and Sin driving off in a coach with the time cabinet…splitting the story as they thought they were making two separate stories with a split down the plot (they weren’t really)….Leela’s cliffhangers are almost rivaling Sarah Jane’s…anyway a good pair of eps AGAIN!
