Who knows - maybe John Simm is playing the Master from the parallel universe who slipped through the void. The fact that there's a parallel Torchwood suggests that there has to have been a parallel Doctor to cause its creation. And maybe there are other Time Lords alive there.

According to RTD, there are no Timelords in the parallel universe... |

Well, there can be multiple parallel universes... We've already seen at least two different ones in Doctor Who so far.

Guys, Have you read the articles about Simm not really wanting to do full seasons of shows again? He doesn't like being away from him family. That was one reason he gave for not wanting to do series 2 of Life on Mars, but he felt he should complete the story and so went back (also, I think you can read into that gobs of money were offered to me to come back!).
You've got to respect that attitude in todays world. |

Point taken as far as the role of The Doctor goes...
But, Simm wouldn't have to do a full series if he is just playing a reoccurring character in Doctor Who. He would have a job and be able to spend time with his family as well. Which brings us full circle again to that other role in the rumour mill being associated with him.
Cheers,

Mm, that makes sense Russ. So why did you go and put an alternative universe Torchwood in there, then? |

Good point. How did Torchwood come about there then? We know it how it happened on 'our Earth' which did involve a Time Lord.

Supposably from an interview:-
Here's the section of DT's interview with Andrew Marr regarding Doctor Who
'AM: Thank you very much for coming in.
Later, as the closing credits rolled, the following could be discerned by lip-reading...
AM: John Simm must have been a joy to work with?
DT: He was, yeah, and he gave a masterful performance'

Unlikely. The only way they connected the werewolf with extraterrestrial intelligence was through the Doctor's intervention and "our" Torchwood was set up AFTER the wolf was killed. If there's no interference by the Doctor, there's no reason for Torchwood.

Someone set up the trap for the werewolf, remember! And maybe Sir Robert in the parallel universe learned something from his father. Maybe the Koh-i-Noor diamond was completed before the wolf's plan was put in motion... |

No gentle way to say it. Here is my theory ( Highlight only if you want to have the roumor mill started at full steam )
SPOILER-
I believe they have cast our John Simm as Doctor #11 and all the press hype/leaks are just to distract us from looking in the right direction. But who knows, it could all be a brilliant hype just to fill the DW forums with usless pointless speculation. Anything the BBC says is suspect at this point as you all know.
Cheers,
Mike M. |

I totally agree with merlin. We know how much mis-information RTD likes to put out. The above theory just seems a better use of the actor. The master will be played by Derek Jacobi. John Sim will be cast in another role !!!! |
