    Congratulations to Billy!

Billie Piper has given birth to her first child, the Daily Mail can reveal.

The 26 year-old actress delivered a baby boy at the private Portland Hospital, thought to be by Caesarean Section.

Her husband, actor Laurence Fox, 29, drove her to the hospital and was present for the birth.

The Portland Hospital in London is well known for its celebrity clientele

Speaking outside the hospital Mr Fox said: 'I feel fantastic.'

When asked whether they had chosen a name he answered: 'It's a private moment.'

He celebrated the birth with a pint of lager in the local Green Man pub next to the Portland yesterday with a group of friends and showed off mobile phone pictures of his son.

Today he arrived at the hospital still puffing on a cigar just before visiting his wife and newborn child.

A source said he told friends: 'You have no idea what's going on but it's amazing.'

He admitted had initially panicked because he couldn't get the car to start after his wife went into labour.

Speaking about her pregnancy recently, Billie revealed she was mildly apprehensive about the birth, and has become fanatical about having scans.

'Some women are all about this glowing, blooming thing, aren't they?' she said.

'I haven't really tapped into that. I've basically replaced all my vices for a new one - control.

'I've had about 10 scans and I bought one of those baby heart monitor things. Such a bad idea - its like listening to a huge shell on the beach.

'But I do love it. The whole thing is just so sweet, tender and adorable.'

The star has clearly beaten ex husband Chris Evans who revealed that Billie and his new wife Natasha Shishmanian competed to see who could get pregnant first.

'You know they had a baby race, to see who could get in the family way first,' he told the Daily Star Sunday.

Laurence Fox told reporters outside the Portland Hospital in London that they have named the baby Winston James Fox.

He said he weighed 6lb 11oz and was born at 1am.

A tired-looking Laurence said of his new-born son: "He is beautiful, he is sweet."

When asked about the birth, he said Billie was in labour for 26 hours before going to the hospital in the early hours of the morning.

He said: "The emergency caesarean only took about 20 minutes.

"Billie is happy, of course she is, she's a mum. I am tired but not as tired as her - I am a proud father. Mum is doing really well, no complications. Healthy, brilliant."

When asked how long his wife was expected to remain in hospital, he said: "Well, she has been cut apart, so probably overnight

The 26-year-old Secret Diary Of A Call Girl star and former pop singer married her actor husband in December.

Piper's ex-husband Chris Evans was among the first non-family members to visit the newborn.
