You beat me to it Dave - looks like OG has crashed!
I doubt it's worth calling it a spoiler as it won't stay that way for long. It's all over the OG news page and no doubt mainstream media will be publishing it everywhere - it looks like the Guardian already broke the press embargo and put it online early.
I'm gutted |

Before we go into meltdown - that sums up a rather bad day for me! First my team loses and now this.
I think i'll forward my CV though
Does this mean that DM will indeed be the Next Doctor? Looks like my friendly bet has backfired! (link here) But cheers to David for being a great Doctor though |

| Yes, a sad day. My daughter is quite upset. Well, now the rumour mill really begins with how will he regenerate and into Who?? But I hope 2009 isn't overshadowed by it because DT has been a fantastic Doctor. |

Saddened cos he was so damned fantastic. Excited cos this is what the programme's always done!
Three favourites announced on the ten o'clock news: James Nesbit; David Morrisey and Paterson Joseph.
I favour the last as I feel the first two are too big for the role. |

I don't know, imho DM is a much bigger name than Patterson Jopesh and on a par with Nesbitt and I get the feeling that's what the producers want. It'll be great to see DM as The Doctor, but that will mean me running around Cardiff Bay, with very little clothes on (again see link above), so i'm not having it!
My own personal choices are either Richard Coyle or Robert Caryle. |

Just listenned to a David Tennant interview:-
Interview Video (EDIT - don't know if this works outside the UK)
And David says - he has done 1 special (the Christmas one) and then he's doing FOUR MORE!! - so that's 5 in all - not 4 as we thought!!!!
Cheers, daveac

| If anyone's intrested there a longer interview with Tennant plus a trailer for the Christmas episode at the offical site. But its only open to the UK I guess? I'm sure someone will whack it up to youtube soon. |

We had the same problem here when the news broke. It wasn't a crash but rather we over exceeded our server capacity. For a short bit people were not able to access our site here. Thankfully, it didn't last too long.

The role of the Doctor becomes available.
Russell Brand resigns.
Coincidence?
I don't think so.

Just get back in from a meal with my wife celebrating my birthday, put the TV news on, & WHAM ! David Tennant is quitting. What kind of birthday present is that ? Sad though the news is, we still have DT as the doctor for another year & as he said himself for people like us he will always be the 10th Doctor.
Now comes all the exciting speculation of who will be the next Doctor. I would like to nominate an actor by the name of Benedict Cumberbatch. I first saw him last year in a BBC drama "The Last Enemy" & thought he had a sort of young Peter Davidson vulnerability about him & thought he would make an excellent Doctor. Who ever it is I look forward to the excitement of a new Doctor, while mourning the loss of the old. |

Seems a dreadful shame that we're not getting a full 13 episode season next year. The whole reason for the 5 specials next year was to give the actors and production crew a break before embarking on season 5. Since none of them will be involved with the show after 2009 that seems a bit redundant now.
Would have been nice to have a whole last season of Tennant and maybe some cohesion between the stories as you can get in a proper season. I'm worried the specials will be stand alone stories and we'll have a year consisting of Xmas invasion/ Runaway bride/ Voyage of the damned style stories. |
