This from the folks at Timegate (May 2009) in Atlanta GA:
TimeGate: Major Guest Update
Wed Feb 18, 2009 9:29 am (PST)
It is with great disappointment that I have to announce that LOUISE JAMESON
has had to cancel her appearance at TimeGate this year. She has had a
theatre job come her way in between filming blocks for her series River
City, and the play will have her on tour during our convention weekend.
Louise asked me to express to you all how sorry she is to have to cancel, as
she was very much looking forward to coming. Worry not, we will have Louise
here as a guest another year.
But for the moment, we have two new guests to announce to you, and it is in
part due to Louise's assistance that we have these two very worthy
"replacements" .
First, we have MARY TAMM, who portrayed the original incarnation of Romana
on Doctor Who alongside Tom Baker as the Doctor. She was on the show for
one season, in a year-long story arc that saw the Doctor and Romana in a
quest across time and space in search of the six segments of the mythical
Key to Time. This remains one of the most popular seasons of *Doctor Who*'s
Classic Series, with Tamm portraying a character that proved to be every bit
the Doctor's equal.
Next, we have a man about whom one can say, in ways that apply to no other
person, he IS Doctor Who: TERRANCE DICKS. As a writer, Mr. Dicks has
literally done everything there is to do in the world of Doctor Who. He was
the script editor on the show from Patrick Troughton's final season through
the whole of Jon Pertwee's five-year run. He wrote or co-wrote a number of
the series' classic tales, including "The Brain of Morbius", "Horror of Fang
Rock", Tom Baker's debut "Robot" and Patrick Troughton's swansong "The War
Games". He also wrote the 20th Anniversary special "The Five Doctors". He
wrote 60+ novelisations of Classic Who stories, from William Hartnell
through Colin Baker, as well as the novelisation of the first Sarah Jane
Adventures story, "Invasion of the Bane". He's written original Who novels
for Classic Doctors as well as two for the Tenth Doctor and Martha. He's
written for Big Finish. And in fact he has two writing credits that he
shares with only one other person -- Doctor Who stage plays (1974's Doctor
Who and the Daleks: The Seven Keys to Doomsday starring Trevor Martin in an
original portrayal of the Doctor, and 1989's Doctor Who: The Ultimate
Adventure starring first Jon Pertwee then Colin Baker reprising their roles
as the lead character).
Arrangements with our two new guests literally just got confirmed this
morning (the ink is still wet, as they say), and as such programming details
are yet to be worked out. But you can expect the usual: Q&A sessions,
autographing, photo sessions, video commentaries, and hopefully we'll have
them contribute to our Cabaret.
We hope that you'll be as excited as we are with these developments. Here's
a look at our complete guest list:
- Mary Tamm (actress, Doctor Who)
- Brad Greenquist (actor, Stargate SG-1, Star Trek, Pet Semetary)
