| Last week I stumbled across an article about Paul McGann starring in an upcoming TV show called "Time War" but there were no details. This thread jogged my memory but now I can't find any trace of the article. |

I'd love to see it.
I think that McGann is the right Doctor to go through the Time War. If we can get a movie that tells the untold story of the Time War with McGann taking on the older style Daleks which sometime during the movie show the development of the new Dalek look, and what happens during the Time War (the Face of Boe would have to make an appearance as a younger face) it would be quite cool.
Also, if it ended with McGann transforming into Eccleston, the bridge between old and new would be complete.

This is way too good to be true, therefore it has to be false. I was willing to somewhat-believe it right up until they mentioned $85 million dollar budget. I mean, come on...that's bigger than a lot, if not most of, the bland material that comes out of Hollywood. Nobody is hoping for a Time War story more than me, but somebody is doing some serious chain-pulling with this whopper of a story. I hope I'm proven wrong, though...
If they were to do a Time War story, I think it'd be more along the lines of a TV movie (perhaps a future Who Christmas Special?), with a significantly smaller budget.

The only stories I see on Empire Online on a Doctor Who movie are the rumours from 1998 and 2001. I could not find anything more recent there... |

SyFy Portal is a reputable website. The article may be in the current or upcoming print edition. Regardless of the nonsensical $85 million buget, I hope there is SOME truth the article.
Does anyone remember how well the 1996 movie did in the UK? Maybe the only current obstacles will be budget and/or egos. Russell Davies and David Tennant do not seem like people who would object to this. |

The 1996 movie got a viewership of 9.08 million in the UK.
The link in the article to Empire Online is to a Patrick Stewart article from late 2005... strange. |

As I have searched through various references, I am becoming more convinced that someone took an old story as a recent one. Just the mentions of Ashbrooke and Tso reprising their roles and an earlier version of the quote I found having $85 million (£57 million) as the budget leads to a time when the dollar was stronger vs. the pound.
I'm surprised that OG even published this as a story...

I was listening to the DWHO podcast & some one was at the cinema watching the trailers for forthcoming films when all of a sudden the TARDIS groans were heard with the words "He's back in 2008". Anyone else seen or heard about this ? |

*crossing ALL of his fingers* please please please please please.
When I got my wife to watch the 05 series with me (she has never heard of the show before) she asked if the Time War was ever filmed, b/c it would be kool. I told her no...and how the McGann movie went.... she was very disapointed. We both hope they go back to show it........so again, read top line |

| You know I'm probably in the minority but I have no real interest in seeing the time war or McGann's regeneration into Eccleston's doctor - it restores some mystery to the series and how on earth would you film a Time War anyway ? |

well today the makers of the current series has no problem filming an army of daleks, earth exploding, an army of cybermen, an army of autons*, werewolfs, killer santas, killer christmas trees, garbage cans that eat people, cat people, a weird energy alien that lives in the tv that steals peoples faces, and tree people.
*try and say that five times fast! |
