| Anyone notice that when Tennant takes the money out of the ATM, it's real money, not the ones with Tennant on! |

[Quote by: Louis] Various late night chat shows such as Letterman, Leno, and O'Brien I now can see in HD... and it is not very forgiving to the many 'celebrity' guests these shows. The lighting may be harsh and the makeup not up to what they would usually get for motion pictures.. so every wrinkle, pimple, crater, etc. shows up... even if they have bloodshot eyes.

With Billie Piper's odd 'spot' - I wonder if that frightened her off?
Readers that don't yet get High Def TV check out Doug's High Def captures:-
here
EDIT:- just checked the site - the HD captures I was talking about are lower down the page - ie. from the Jay Leno show - you don't need to check the 'Victoria Secrets' one's at the top - in fact the odd one or two I just checked (for quality purposes of course) - are not very good

| | Yeah, I saw that, too. I thought the fake money was made cause it was illegal to photograph money. Guess it was just that they didn't want to dump tons of real cash onto the street. |

I thought "The Runaway Bride" was a fabulous story. Certainly there have been better stories and when the robotic Santa Claus creatures returned I kind of rolled my eyes. Overall I don't get the nay-sayers, but to each his/her own.
1. I for one thought the TARDIS chase scene on the highway was one the best most exciting sequences I've ever seen on "Doctor Who." I was cheering and applauding at the end of that. Someone was critical of the music track. I think it really added to the thrill ride.
2. When he mentioned "Gallifrey," I also let out a "Whoopie!" I have been waiting and hoping he would say it.
3. Donna's character was loud and obnoxious at first but she grew on me and I ended up being a little disappointed to see her go. But the Doctor says he will be back. I guess we'll see.
4. Anyone know what were the names of those two great tunes playing at the wedding reception? |

Merry Xmas Everybody—Slade (played in Christmas Invasion as well)
Live Don't Roam—Murray Gold w/ Neil Hannon (appears on Doctor Who—Original Television Soundtrack)

[Quote by: Magrathea] [Quote by: daveac] Just checked the last clip from 'Doomsday' and the first bit of 'The Runaway Bride' and wonder whether they have switched to High Def cameras?
I only get Standard Def but if you look at these two captures you can see the difference.
EDIT:- I've noticed before that HD material still looks better on SD than ordinary stuff. ie. Planet Earth
The first seems to have different lighting as well.
Here's the capture from the end of 'Doomsday' :-

And here's from 'The Runaway Bride' :-

I thought that clip looked slightly different!
Thanks daveac, you have now opened my eyes, (eventually someone will get me some WD40 and allow my eyes to once again open and close by themselves.) |
|
Isnt it obvoius? They were both filmed at different times!
Tennant looks a bit slimmer in Runaway Bride, and in the pics, he has a different hairstyle. |

[Quote by: Linquel] [Quote by: tarashnat] Well, the exit of the TARDIS effect is similar in spirit to the TARDIS landing effect at the beginning of Time and the Rani. No they are not the same, but we see a trail coming down to Lacertya, and then the TARDIS materializes withinin the glow which fades. |
|
And this just made me remember something else. You didn't actually see the TARDIS landing, but in Tomb of the Cybermen the people on Telos say they saw the TARDIS "come down" in the distance or something.
And in Satan Pit the TARDIS was able to tow the other ship behind it as it flew through space.
Hurm. I guess it's not that big a deal after all. |
|
Dont they talk about a bumy landing as well?
I remember Troughton's great line when Jamie asks him to take it easy...'The NERVE!' lol |

Colin,
You are absolutely correct, she wasn't CGI at all, her whole body was prosthetics. Seb and I saw the models that they used to made the full sized body and we knew it was going to be impressive.

Impressive - BUT couldn't move about - which spoiled it somewhat.

I have to say that I am really tired of CGI and like the look and feed of real models and real actors etc. Sure she couldn't move very well, but I think the camera cuts meant that she didn't need to.

Julie G's and David's commentary (out on iTunes) also confirmed that she wasn't CGI'd and expressed how much they believe that fact added to the show -- which was more apparent to me since they spent a rather obvious bit of the podcast pointing out each episode that was green-screened. |
