Hoo-boy.
Right after the dizzying heights of this year's Christmas Special with the oncoming season looking ever-so-good. Finally - Doctor Who is truly back and an actor seems firmly planted in the role for a good spell, willing to go the longer mile for the sake of the legacy of the series.
And now this. here
Found the article up @ Outpost - granted, we all know considering the source, we should take it with a big fat grain of salt.
Still, this makes me sad. And worried. These things have a way of coming from some form of truth, no matter how blown out of proportion they tend to be.
Not good. I can only hope it isn't so. And even still - an exit in the middle of a season? Oh dear... |

This reminds me of the Billie Piper leaving in the middle of Series Two rumours in the UK press... |

Indeed, Taras. But she did in fact leave at the end of Series 2 after all. Again - that's what worries me here. Regardless of whether the timing is in fact set - seems we're already being handed a potential end-in-sight for the 10th Doctor. For that, I'd hoped for much later rather than sooner. And we're running out of regenerations.
Again, to clarify for all - this news is UNCONFIRMED. I would imagine it will stir up enough of a hornet's nest, that some potential damage control from the Beeb is soon to follow. |

That Billie Piper left at the end of Series Two rather than in the miffle doesn't mean that it was not at some time a possibility that her departure might play out differently.
As for this latest story... many tabloids stories end up being untrue but something like this appearing in Sara Nathan's column could end up having some truth to it. The truth will probably end up being that Tennant leaves sometime during Series four, be it in the middle or at the end. I'm sure that all of the 11th Doctor stuff is pure conjecture and very premature.

This is not the first time we heard talk of Tennant leaving in his third series. He certainly would not be the first to leave the role after only 3 series (seasons). I think I would be more surprised if he decided to stay on for a 4th year. But let's get through his 2nd year as the Doctor before we start worrying too much about his 3rd year.
Cheers,

Humm, Well whatever the outcome Tennant has certanily reenergized the show. Youthful charm
and boundless energy have been the halmark of this Doctor so far, and it doesn't hurt that the
ladys like him either . But I'm with Louis, let it rest for a bit (this is The Sun after all).
Cheers,
Mike M.
BTW - The headline (with no date structure) nearly gave me a Heart Attack. Please be watchful,
my poor old hearts can't take much more of that . |

Have we actually had confirmation of Series 4 yet - I'm fairly certain we haven't? Therefore, talk of DT quitting midway through a series that hasn't been confirmed yet is a bit premature
BTW - I think we're all very confident of a forth series but stranger things have happened, they could decide to 'rest it' on a high, likewise there have been stories in the UK press of the BBC having funding problems and potentially having to decide whether to cut jobs, web-services of even programmes! |

| Although I didn't hear the piece myself, a colleague's just made me aware of half-an-article on BBC Radio 1 this morning (Newsbeat?) that mentioned this, but he wasn't sure whether it was some kind of confirmation or a BBC denial. |

Of course remember that the tabloids got spoofed by OG when a group of posters there started the "Charlotte Church to be a Dalek" thread, which the Sun took as gospel and duly reported. I'll worry about it when it says "Tennant quits as Doctor". In the meantime I'll enjoy the third series at least knowing we're not yet going to see anyone else leaving. And of course we should also remember that the story has now been officially denied by the BBC so .....erm......ah....

I vote we don't worry about it and see how things pan out - in this day and age if he stays till midway through series 4 then it's a good run anyway. Plus I'd rather see a 'mid-series' change than at the end of the run - it would make a nice change
Either way - there's nowt we can do about it so let's sit back and enjoy.

That would really be a drag. I hope it's not true. At least there was a little bit of good news in the link, though...
Congratulations to John Barrowman (aka Captain Jack) on tying the knot with his partner.

I came here straight away after my wife said she'd heard DT was leaving. At least it was in the Sun - if everything the Sun said was correct then there's a good chance I might not be here to write this. I could have been one of the 50% of the global population to die of bird-flu by the end of the year.
...although there are a few days to go yet, and I have got a bit of a cough !. |

having him leave in the middle of a season doesn't seem like such a bad thing to me. Okay, yeah, I'd love him to stay until he's 40, but that's not realistic. Having two full years of him isn't bad -- Rather have three full years of him...
Anyway, having a regeneration in the middle of a series allows for a sense of continuity we wouldn't have otherwise. That in itself is a good thing.
oh, and even though I really like Robert Carlisle as an actor, I don't think he'd make a good Who. Again, it's the Sun... |
