I was on a (very boring) conference call at work today and ran across this little nugget on BBC News:
Tea Healthier Than Water
Who knew that the Doctor's words during The Christmas Invasion actually had a scientific background! |

Ah....
But what the doctor failed to point out ( as did the venerable BBC) when combining A super-heated infusion of tannins and free-radicals with a super baked concoction of oats, glucose, wheat and that extra special ingrediant of hobby-nobbiness in a repetetive up down motion (slightly reminiscent of the TARDIS console) it will in fact cure all human ills, alleviate poverty, stop all wars, rejuvinate Gallifrey, bring harmony to the universe and give you a nice warm and fuzzy all over.
Ahh - If only. |

Just back to 'Tea' on todays BBC news they had an item about funding to restore the last 'Tea Clipper' ship the 'Cutty Sark'
The Lottery have put up 13 million pounds - that's over 20 million dollars - and they have to match that with a further 13 million raised from the public.
Here a link to the website about the ship and a small picture:-

I think of Cutty Sark as the first light coloured whisky in the world. With a picture of the real Cutty Sark on the label! |

I think of Cutty Sark as the whisky used to teach me how to "drink" prior to heading to university. Too bad my dad didn't drink domestic beer; perhaps if he had I would have only escalated into liking imported beer/lager/ale versus an escalation from Cutty Sark to 18 year single malt whisky....
I went and saw the Cutty Sark while in London in December (as well as visiting Greenwich). It was very neat to see the clipper! I'd definitely buy a lottery ticket to help restore this bit of heritage. If I win I'll be looking to split the winnings with one of you lovely UK citizens (as I'm not sure I could collect as a foreigner). |

I would have to replace your hobby-nobbiness with a bit of chocolate mcvities digestive-ness: not just oats, glucose and wheat but chocolate, which HAS been proven to be good for your heart (and internal chemical balance)....
alright, now I'm definitely hungry. Time for earl grey - hot, and some mcvities! |

Hot tea should be consumed with one or more of the following:
Hob Nobs
Jaffa Cakes
Jammie Wagon Wheels and/or Dodgers
Mikados
Pinguins/TimTams
Mallow Puffs (regular or pineapple)
now I'm hungry!
(I used to keep a box of jaffa cakes in my bedside table so if I got hungry at night I could nibble on one )) |

While watching Doctor Who:
Hob Nobs - The Doctor is always fiddling with knobs and hob nobs with everyone
Jaffa Cakes - The Knight of Jaffa — The Crusade
Jammie Wagon Wheels and/or Dodgers - Jamie McCrimmon!
Mikados - reminds me of Meglos
Pinguins/TimTams - Mary Tamm!
Mallow Puffs (regular or pineapple) - someone else find a Doctor Who link, I'm exhausted...
