SPOILERS regarding 'The Doctor's Daughter' in white:
According to various rumour mills and wiki, it's nothing (paternally) to do with the Doctor or Susan, in fact DrWho001 got it almost spot on in the first post. But we'll have to wait and see...

On another note, this is the thread for 'The Poison Sky' so shouldnt everything NOT to do with this episode be given it's individual thread?
I'm not being ratty, it's just that this single thread isnt really big enough to be talking about 'what ifs' and 'maybes' regarding next week's episode, and we're filling it up with pictures of Moffet and family trees?

    Any thoughts?

The best way I can think of to describe this is back of the net!

I wasnt totally convinced about last weeks; I thought it was ok, but I wasn't completely sure and was waiting to see how it came off overall. I think part 2 completely delivered.

I saw it this morning, but I got a text last night that simply said "now that was funny!" I guessed it was Doctor related (simply because of the time it was sent). When I saw it today I instantly knew what it referred to. Donna's brilliant.

When you see the legions of marching Sontarans, more than what a hard looking, Warhammer-esque bunch of soldiers they are, I can't help instead thinking "for mash get smash".

I can't make up my mind if I like or dislike the Sonta-Haka.

Also, given the time this is on, the military/war & death aspect of this was very bold.

    Loved it.

Anyone else besides me think Rattigan looked like a Sontaran?

Yea, got a bit too excited about next weeks episode. Sorry about that. Twisted Evil

< begin rant > And now for a downer, so this new atmosphere on the WHOLE planet is flammable is it? But not a single naked flame on the whole Earth can ignite it? I was screwing! And even if you poo poo that excuse and believe that only the Doctor's cannon can ignite it, wouldn't it make sense for everything from sea-level upwards to burn? As we all know, you need oxygen for something to combust, and the higher up the ATMOSphere (hehe) you get, the less dense the air is, so a flame wouldn't burn!

When it comes to fuel/air explosions the exact ratio is important. Too much fuel or too much air and even with a n ignition source nothing can happen. Anything lower than the bottom of the stratosphere (12.5km) and the Sontarans would have had more to worry about with commercial aviation than ICBMs.

Is the Doctor's Daughter a Bionic Woman or a Terminator? Was she Susan's Mommy? She doesn't look to much like William Hartnell Big Grin

I was thinking more Buffy Summers or River Tam.

Yay! What a terrific surprise and totally unexpected. That's right, I did not anticipate this would be such a strong part two.

I don't think there's anything I can say that hasn't been said or elaborated on already so this is just me throwing in my big thumbs up.

I think I need to watch both episodes back to back for good measure - and regarding next week's episode I'm sure it's got to be a "Doctor's Wedding" type of trick. I'll believe he's got a living acrobat actual sexily be-gotten daughter when I see the episode. It's got to be some kind of clone business or some other kind of enemy mischief.

If Worzel Gummidge and the Third Doctor had a fist fight - who would win?

I thought the second part was much better than the first, but I'm still not impressed by Raynor's writing at all.

Hell, I think the only thing that really saved this episode was the reference to the Brig and the "Are you my mummy?" - THAT was brilliantly played.

I've not seen any of the Sontaran episodes from the old series, but they never seemed to be a race that people ever took seriously. And this story really hasn't helped sway my opinion any.

I'm also actually a bit miffed that the idiot Luke was allowed to sacrifice himself thus saving the planet. The only thing I wanted to see out of that character was his death, and I certainly didn't want it to be a noble one. Twisted Evil

Also would be nice if Donna could get through a story without crying. Wink

River Tam = Cameron Terminator (both are Summer Glau) And I was thinking Michelle Ryan not Our Lindsey.

Good episode. Much better than episode 1. Yes, the air igniting stuff was lame, but the drama of the episode held up and there were some interesting bits (what's up with Rose on the screen? That was rather interesting).

As for the teaser for next week, has me hooked. I can't wait to see it already!

Much, much better than last series' Dalek two parter.

I really enjoyed the second part, with two exceptions. I'm okay with the bad science, I did grow up on Star Trek afterall AND reading Mythology where deus ex machina is required all the time, so bad science in the form of deus ex Satsuma? Fine.

I'm not okay with Martha trying to reform the clone-Martha at the end AND the clone giving in to it. Please. I also don't buy that Luke was willing to sacrifice himself in the end because the Doctor showed him a better way (to paraphrase from the Confidential). He MIGHT have played martyr b/c he realized he was the smarted genius on Earth, so what was there to live for... but not because he all the sudden saw the error of his ways.

So, what did I like? I like the two second blurb of Rose yelling "Doctor!" I liked Granddad! I liked that Donna's mom had an axe handy and knew how to use it (I keep an axe handle by each of my doors for intruders, never thought have having the blade on the end of it!). I liked that UNIT (or UnIT?) stood up to the Doctor and got a few props for it. I love that Donna made no big deal over getting a key to the Tardis!

Five episodes into the season and Donna is OFFICIALLY my favorite companion of the new series!!!

TerraCanis on a Digital Spy Forum suggests the 'post-it' sticker on the monitor showingg Rose may hold a clue - the design looks a little like the one on the Fob Watch?

Not sure - anyone got a better screen grab?

I'm glad someone else agrees with me. I think she's a breath of fresh air. (well sort-of Razz )
Still, I was a fan of her even back during the Christmas special, just because she's different. So far I've really loved her reactions, and how she is so different from the other companions he's had recently.
