It was nice to see a refreshing change from the run of the mill Doctor Who episode. Although I do agree with Louis comments on yesterdays podshock about how the story would have been much better if it was a pure historical. Do we NEED a alien in EVERY episode Evil (I suppose that's why I like Black Orchid so much!)

    My review here btw

Maybe I was just drunk and maybe my mind is always in the gutter, but wasn't there a sort of mild BDSM reference? It did seem a little much for a family show though I'm sure the reference would probably go over a child's head.

What the heck's BDSM??? That went over my head, let alone any children watching! Don't worry, I'll google it.
    Eek!

The only thing that bothered me about the homosexual relationship is that it was yet another potentially interesting story thread that didn't actually go anywhere. Like The Unicorn.

I didn't (bother) watching the confidential, but I have a feeling this had been a much bigger story that was edited and edited to fit 42 minutes and ended up a rushed mess with all manner of story arcs being touched upon and not fulfilled.

Sorry to sounds so down on it, I know some people here enjoyed it. I do love Agatha Christie stories and the upper class Edwardian world her characters inhabit. And that may be why I really didn't like this episode, as I personally feel they didn't capture the spirit of the novels at all and am upset at what I feel is a wasted opportunity.

Eastenders, maybe not, but in the 201st Century, people will be glued to Big Brother, The Weakest Link, What Not to Wear, Call My Bluff, Countdown, Ground Force, Wipeout and Stars in Their Eyes.

I realized that I never posted these notes I was taking and saved in a text file. I'll post them now, just for the hell of it.

[Quote  by:  LockeRomero]This episode was the first episode since Partners in Crime this season to make me laugh out loud for an expanded period of time (ie the miming scene in PIC and the kitchen charades scene in TUATW, almost gave me a Young Frankenstein feel to it.)

At the "how is Harvey Wallbanger one word"line, I definitely was thinking "Sedagive??"

[Quote  by:  rocko] I especially liked the references to earlier episodes, such as the reference to "Blink". Light-hearted and fun; I laughed out loud several times.

I think my favorite reference to a past ep was when Donna was saying, "that would be like Charles Dickens surrounded by ghosts..at Christmas." Brilliant.

[Quote  by:  Idiom] There was the vespiform, a good monster and an attempt to be original (although here I am shocked that it had nothing to do with the bees’ disappearance – I was so sure...)

I was thinking that at first, too, but then I remembered that the title was "...the Wasp", not "...the Bees".

Donna with the magnifying glass [I can't remember what I was going to say about this, maybe something about Donna being clever enough to use the sunlight as a weapon with the magnifying glass.

Professor Peach, not Plum? Does the game have different names for the suspects in England?

It's too bad I haven't read a lot of Christie, otherwise I might have gotten all the Christie title references without the Confidential explaining it to me. Smile

I'm going "Full Circle" and putting my avatar back to what it was when I first joined. :)

One thing other thing I noticed: When the Doctor is waiting outside the TARDIS for Donna to change clothes, it gives the impression that he was doing it to give her privacy. This would imply that there is only one room in the TARDIS. That bugs me somewhat.

I took it to mean that she was taking too long to get ready. Not that it was privacy, but that he didn't have the patience to wait for her inside.

What a silly episode. What (in my opinion) a waste of truly talented actors. Loved Woolgar as Agatha Christie. The first movie (Bright Young Things) I ever saw her in, I believe her name was also "Agatha;" David was "Ginger" in that movie (and a complete jerk).

By the time we got to the end I said, "what was the Unicorn?" Oh, that was the jewel thief. Well, she didn't really serve a purpose, did she.

I was so hoping that we'd discover that the reason Agatha didn't remember 10 days is b/c the Doctor and Donna took her on a trip somewhere and she was just pretending to everyone that she didn't remember the time away. That would have been nice!

ya know they didn't do the whole "are you two married?" thing with rose & Martha!

its like in the Sara Jane adventures were every body's keeps telling her "you're not married are you?" thing.

i mean talk about making somebody feel bad that there still single!
