River Song knowing the Doctor and saying that Tennants Doctor was so young in his regeneration, kinda goes against what the OOD said about his song ending.

So presumably she will drop the Rose bomb as it were. I would love to know what she has written in her diary. And the great thing is, even if she gets killed off she can return Mr. Green

That part was very like the Big Finish story: The Game where the 5th Doctor meets Lord Darzil Carlisle a hero of the Doctors because he is a great peacemaker and it turns out that he knows the 5th Doctor but from later on in his regeneration and its a really good story.

Anyway looking forward to part 2 next week. Sorry couldnt be on the show but the podcast is at a bad time of day for me Frown the Sci-Fi channel ones were at a good time for me when I got my new mic and now they have stopped lol.

5 out of 5 for me on this story.

Just read a nice thread on Digital Spy - someone posted that their niece had been cast in Dr Who - this is dated Dec 2007.

The girl turns out to be - Eve Newton - who played the little girl in this (and next weeks) episode.

    Here's the thread:-

KennyT noticed that in the young girls room there were two pictures on the wall - a fair-haired young girl and a wolf ie. Rose

Hello, This is my first post on this site. Smile

I really enjoyed this episode, good monster good action and the sets/locations really add to the feel of a big big library. The confidential really shows how you can make the most of a good location.

I like everyone have a few ideas about what we will see. I can't wait to listen to the podshock, I'm always at work so I can not partake live but I enjoy it as well as Tin Dogs but I have not seen a new one from him, (must be on a well earn vacation)

For what its worth here is where I see this going for next week...

The Little girl is the computer AI for the library. (this I think is pretty obvious)

River Song is going to be his mother (if the movie is to be believed was human). or some other relation (ie grand mother on mothers side, Maybe a grandchild but I think the Doctor's daughter takes place after this one) The way she called him sweetie and brushed his check.

The missing people and Donna are saved in the flesh bank with some rigged teleports buffer, like when he tries to Astrid back in the christmas special but this time it will work.

I have a feeling River Song will die and this will be the doctor's song ending.

I know a long 1st post so I'll end here.

k...there is spoilers in the subject - good. Interesting thoughts on River Song's identity, but based on what I've heard elsewhere I'd go with Tin Dog's answer. This is nice that he runs into someone out of order in his timeline, I'm not sure how often that has happened in the past. Face of Evil and others alluded to it, but this is right there in your face.

As for the girl, I would have thought it pretty obvious that she is part of the AI for the library. Why she looks like she lives on 20th cent earth - probably the most simple reason - plot device to foil the viewer.

Of course Donna is not dead. We know that from the mid season trailer, however it'll be interesting to see how they get out of this. As for the face on the slab, I didn't even think of Love and Monsters til I saw Louis's post here. Guess that's a good thing Smile

I like the "villian". As the confidential said - nothing you can reason with, argue with, etc... it just is. I think they revealed it a bit too soon...a bit more of a build up would have been nice.

Also, the concept of the communicator having a touch of the person after they die was brilliant...however not as brilliant as having the "bad guy" walking around with a catch phrase of "hey...who turned out the lights."

I think I had built this episode up in my mind too much during Eurovision because even though I enjoyed it, I felt a little let down. I'm not sure if it was all the crap with River Song, the fact the foe is basically a bunch of hungry dust, or what. However I did find the girl aspect a twist I was not expecting so that was a plus.

Well, that's about enough random thoughts for the day. I really did like this one and the season seems to be getting better and better. Not sure what the best return season is yet. To paraphrase Ken, it's the one your watching at the time Smile but I'm not sure. Lots of various episodes stand out here and there, but not one whole season.

Don't place bets just yet on River Song being a goody.

She doesn't sit well for yours truly, my love for the lovely Alex Kingston non withstanding...

I really enjoyed the episode. So far the season for me as been middle of the road, like something is off that i can't put my finger on. This one really had me enjoying the ride and not looking at the clock. The face people look to me like their stuck in the middle of a poached egg. Thats a but naff for me but the emotional impact of Donna being saved and one of them sort of made up for the weird design. Props on the CGI for the Library too.

As we are talking possible spoilers check out Digital Spy and their preview of next week's episode. They always put two red herrings in there so it will be fun to see what is in there and what isn't.

Ok, this is the episode that makes me so happy that I've been avoiding all spoilers this season (including show titles). And I have no doubts that when RTD steps down, Doctor Who will be in good hands. This was a really fantastic episode. Very creepy. The best killer shadow story since the X-Files episode "Soft Light". I enjoyed this episode so much I'm actually not sure if I want to read the other posts in this thread just because I don't want to read anything that might spoil my enjoyment of part 2. Maybe someone can post a reply to this saying if it's safe to read or not.

    Mr. Green

I'm tentatively giving this my first 5/5 of the season.

I'm going "Full Circle" and putting my avatar back to what it was when I first joined. :)

Is this Moffat getting in a dig at Cornell?

Someone on this forum has said that series 4 has been their favourite so far - not so for me. We've just had one weak story after another.

Which is why I'm so thankful that Mr Moffat has delivered the goods yet again. I absoluely LOVED this. I loved the concept of a library planet, I loved the monsters, I loved the supporting characters, I loved the cliffhanger. This is the first story this year that I'm going to go back and watch again.

And I didn't have a problem with the talking slabs at all, they made sense to me - completely different from the L&M talking pavement.

Can't wait for next weeks. Moffat you genius. 5/5 Hooray!

Elsewhere, I have said that I think this series is the most consistant so far. Way better than last season (which I think was the weakest). However, for me, with the exception of this episode this season has not reached the heights of the best season two episodes particularly "School Reunion", "The girl in the Fire place", The Imposible planet/Satan pit", "Army of ghosts/Doomsday" and "Tooth and Claw". It certainly hasn't plumbed the depths of "Idiot's lantern" or "Fear her" either. This series has just been consistantly strong, but not excellent, episodes - even "Fires of Pompeii" was only a "4 out of 5" IMHO.
