    WOW!

First off - I like the companion lite/Doctor lite combo. That worked very well. Keeps the viewer more interested than trying to force a new character on them for just one episode (though they can bring back Sally anytime.)

Now we know what was on Donna's back. A time-beetle. Just how many different creatures out there feed on time? I guess for the most part they are harmless...I pick a blue shirt instead of a red shirt at the store and it causes a tiny disturbance and this feeds on that disruption. However, Russell seems to have some big plans for Donna in the next two episodes, highlighting how important one person (at the right place/right time) can be.

While the racnos did play a part in this, I was glad to see that it wasn't tied particularly to that story. I think they did a great job of showing how the Doctor makes a difference for Earth but at the same time working in that we can also take care of ourselves somewhat (Sarah Jane on the moon, Torchwood vs the Sontarans). It did a very good job of weaving the last two seasons back together in an alternate reality. I was at first surprised they left the Master events out, but then remembered that without Martha and The Doctor those would have never happened.

Rose - not sure what I make out of her keeping appearing. Made for a good story, but logically, why would she be sucked from another universe just for this? I guess we'll find out more next week. Just seemed a tiny bit hokey to me.

Bernard Cribbins - when DT resigns from the role, he should regenerate into Bernard for the next body. He did an incredible job in this episode.

RTD - I guess this is his swan song and man is he planning on going out with style. Don't want to get too much into the trailer, but bringing back the Bad Wolf concept and pretty much all the side characters makes you wonder just how far in advance he had all this planned.

I was really impressed with this episode and how well it was done, even if it did just wet my appetite for next weekend. This is one of the few episodes I've sat there looking at the clock, however more along the lines of "cmon...they need to make it longer, it can't be almost over, they have so much to do yet."

    Cheers.

Oh yeah...the end. While I love them running into the TARDIS with the cloister bell going, the little line about "It's the end of the universe." A bit melodramatic aren't we???
