Yes, you read that correctly. The BBC showed The Christmas Invasion WITHOUT the continuity announcer talking over the end credits.
Miracles do happen, it seems.

Of course, before you get your hopes up, it did have the "Who Night On Three" logo in the top left corner of the screen the whole time but this was a minor distraction and at least it didn't move about, bleep, zoom in or out of the screen or turn into an advert for Ghost Hunters.

I was pretty thrilled myself when i also noticed that there was no talking over the credits. :-D
Granted, I was only half-listening, as I was listening to the tail-end of the BBC Commentary track. (Made sense to have it playing on my computer as the TV played the episode - especially as I'd not heard the official one yet.... I'd already listened to the Podshock one, of course )

That's one of the other things that I notived. The "BBC Three" and "Who night" graphics were on-screen the whole evening, but they were done well. A small-ish corner of the screen. Pale white, semi-transparent and non-moving.
So it was constantly there, but minimally intrusive. Which is a nice change. |

Oh yeah, the "BBC Three, Dr. Who Night" graphic is fine and not intrusive at all... especially compared to the lower-third pop-up animated advertising with sound effects seen on American TV programming at times. I never had any problems with how the BBC handles their ID bug or their what's on next pop up text strip towards the end of the Doctor Who: Confidentials last year.
Cheers,
