The Mirror is hinting that green monsters from 1967 will return (Ice Warriors?). In prior posts on the which classic villian would you like to see return, I had speculated that from hints in dialog, that these were the most likely to return in series 3.

oh good! I always liked them.
But you know, I think it's time from RTD to develop a recurring nemisis for the Doctor on his own. I don't think he needs to go back to keep us all happy anymore - its not that I don't like it, its just time to develop your own characters. |

The other members of the Slitheen's race were supposed to be that. The Slitheen were originally supposed to be the aliens in The Satan Pit until they became the Ood. I'm sure we'll see their return as well in the future. |

what about the Absorbaloff - wasn't that a brilliant scary monster ... erm no perhaps on second thoughts maybe not, after all we don't want Louis head exploding - no Louis = no Podshock.
I want to see the Ood back or something like them... a Ood with attitude... because they were actually real characters actors on screen and that made them oh so believable and far more involving than anything my brain says is CGI. |

I liked the Ood, too, but could they be successful recurring villians?
I second the motion for new baddies for the Doctor to face. When Star Trek re-booted, we got not only Klingons and Romulans, but also Cyberm-- er, the Borg and other interesting races.
The BBC book series and the Big Finish audios have fleshed out a good number of adversaries for the Doctor. We should expect no less from the TV series.
My favorite candidate for a TV adversary? The Krill, from the book Storm Harvest and the Big Finish audio Dust Breeding. That should satisfy the fans of scary Who!

| sadly, I completely forgot about the Slitheen. But maybe we should really start saying Raxocoricofaliplitorians (or how ever you'd guess at spelling that....) since the Slitheen is only a family name? |

Don't wanna see Ice Warriors. Just got done watching The Ice Warriors and The Seeds of Death and was rather unimpressed with them. They move veeeerrrry sloooowwwwwlllyyyyyy and have stupid claw hands.
I they are going to bring back a classic monster next season I wish they'd bring back the Zygons. They scared the hell out of me when I was little. |

Check out this section of a recent RTD interview (that I'm pretty sure was mentioned in its own thread, but here's the link again www.quickstopentertainment.com/?p=438. Seems interesting that he mentioned Ice Warriors...
"QS: You reintroduced the Cybermen rather spectacularly… That really only leaves on other villainous cornerstone…
DAVIES: Oh, which one’s that then? Oh, the Master?
QS: The Master.
DAVIES: Oh right, no there’s a few. There’s Ice Warriors…
QS: But as far as the ones everyone remembers…
DAVIES: I’m not too keen on the Master, myself. I remember when I was a kid he was probably my least favorite villain. So I think I do believe in bringing back all the great icons of the series, but I think that if we’re gonna bring him back, we need to think very carefully about how to do it because he can be a bit of a moustache twirler sometimes - and that’s exactly what you want, but…" |

Well, I am sure if the Ice Warriors were to return today, they would update them for today's audiences. Just as they have done with the other returning icons (well, perhaps no so much with the Autons... store shop dummies can only be updated so much... but the Nestine was updated).
We haven't seen the Ice Warriors in more than 30 years. Longer than even the Yeti. So it would be interesting on how they would do them today compared to way back then.
I had heard rumours of Zygons returning, but only rumours and/or speculation.
Cheers,
Louis |

It's been 38 years since we've seen the Yeti - The Web of Fear.
It's been 32 years for the Ice Warriors - The Monster of Peladon.
The Ice Warriors have appeared in Big Finish stories, but no Yeti/Great Intelligence. The Ice Warriors were also to appear in the cancelled "23rd season". It would have been great seeing the Sixth Doctor tangle with the Ice Warriors... |

Remember that the Ood were victims of possession, they weren't villains, any more than Toby was.
They were subservient slaves who liked being slaves.
Love to see them come back, but not as villains.
Sean.

| Nah it's the green death again - in search of the perfect breakfast food (something with protein, apple's just won't do) they wind up at a little "caf" that does a killer Full Irish (you know, beans, black and white pudding, sausages, eggs, fried marinated portobello mushrooms, toast - the works) but pretty soon people start coming down with The Green Death. First they think it's cos the HOBART isn't sanitizing the dishes properly but then they realize it's actually aliens. And after they save the patrons, the cafe owners treat everyone to a nice cuppa. |
