Are series one and two DVD sets complete? Views: 794
     Wednesday, December 27 2006 @ 09:31 PM EST
    evening all,

Since I am in the US and Sci-Fi has been cutting Doctor Who, I was thinking about buying the DVD sets so I can actually see everything.

Does anyone know if the DVD sets are complete as shown on BBC?

    Cheers-

Well I can only speak for the UK releases but they certainly seem to be uncut. Can't speak for the US releases but it would seem strange for them to cut anything. The US cuts seem to be purely to the sake of fitting commercials into the timeslot so I can't imagine why they'd cut the DVD unless there was something really unsuitable for the viewing audience - which there doesn't seem to be.

The content of the DVDs between the UK and North America are identical for the new series. The episodes are basically as aired in the UK with one small omission. Graham Norton's voice does not appear in the soundtrack to Rose.

Now, as far as the Doctor Who Confidentials that appear as extras, they are the cut down versions averaging to about 12 or so minutes, instead of the original versions which were closer to half an hour. In the first series set, they cut out most of the references to the classic series from the program. Now, the cut down versions were broadcast as repeats, so one can think of the longer versions as a treat for the UK licence payer, getting to see something most others will not.

Thanks for the info--it will be nice to see the episodes in their complete form. I wish Sci-Fi would not cut, but I guess adverts must win out.
