Gallifrey - Big Finish Audios Views: 794

Just finished listening to the whole Big Finish Gallifrey range. Started in January and finished six months later - they've accompanied me on many a long walk.
I have to say that in general I was very impressed. I found the first series a touch slow but persevered and it really came into it's own from the second season. The stories are suitably labyrithine and Kafka-esque, just what I'd imagined Time Lord society to be like with plenty of backbiting, in-fighting and triple crossing! Great stuff.
Lalla Ward impressed me much more than she ever did on TV, Louise Jameson was fantastic as always and it was good to hear the K-9s.
Each story is perhaps a little slow to start but considering the complexities of the plots I would imagine that this is hard to avoid. But stick which each play for twenty minutes or so and they soon hit their stride and become addictive. The are interesting, funny, moving at times and show real character development even of established characters from the Whoniverse.
    I would thoroughly recommend them.
Any other thoughts on this great range of plays?

I've heard almost all of them (still need the last 3) and I loved them. Louise Jameson & the dueling K9's are great, but Lalla Ward sometimes (most of the time) sounds bit too imperious. I know running a planet of Time Lords must be tough, but honey, take the stick out already!

I've been waiting till I become more financial before buying these. I've been wanting to listen to them for quite some time, because I'm sure it's no secret to anyone, but Romana has to be one of my favourite characters from Who. Big Grin

    bye bye david :(

I love these, like I Claudius (with out the sex - this is Classical Galifrey after all)

They do feel slow and yet very rich. I would love to talk about the plots and who appears and more importantly Who doesn't but maybe that's for a different thread.
