| Does anybody else find that if they go to post a comment, but are not logged on, they get redirected to a login screen. However, if you're not logged on and go to post in the forum you get sent to a screen to register? I find this most frustrating - is it possible to either stay logged on permanently or at least get redirected to a login screen? |

| I only have problems logging in. I get an error that says I must have typed in my password wrong, but then I'll click the home page and it shows me as logged in. Odd. |

| Just an after thought. If you go to your profile preferences, there is a drop-down box which will allow you to change the time to remain logged on. I'd change that first then see how things work for you. |

As Jeff stated above, if you go to your Account Preferences you can change how long you stay logged in.... change it to one month and the site should remember you for that period before you have to log back on again.
Let me know if you have any troubles.

Thanks for the reply Louis. I was sure I had done that
On closer inspection it would appear I hadn't. |

Yeah, Louis, I've had mine set to 8 hours for a long time now, and I know that it doesn't keep me logged in for 8 hours. Or at least it didn't appear to. This might just be my impression, not sure.
I also find it frustrating to hit reply and then be redirected to a register or lost password screen rather than a login screen, which would make more sense. Made worse by the fact that the first screen that pops up just tells you of the problem, waits a few seconds, and redirects.
I always find myself scrambling for the STOP button so it wouldn't spend more time on the register screen, so I can scroll down to log in.
I don't know how much control you have over the software, but it would be a help if that page had as its first option a login screen, and then a password retrieval screen, and then a registration screen. That would be cool.
The last two could be interchanged if you prefer to have a registration screen before a password retrieval screen.
Just a few thoughts.

| It would be nice to be able to do that, unfortunately most forum software packages don't give you that much control beyond just adding or deleting features. |

Also make sure cookies are enabled on your browser... It relies on cookies to remember you. If cookies are disabled, then it may not matter how long you have the site set to remember you.

Well after specifying to stay logged on for 'one month' yesterday I found I was no longer logged on when I visited 'The Embassy' earlier today. I've changed my settings in IE to completely trust this site and always allow cookies but one reboot later and I'm logged out again.
Any more ideas? anybody else suffering this? |

I am looking further into this and see what might be the problem. I, myself haven't encountered any problems with the site remembering me. Anyway, hopefully we can find a resolution that works for everyone.
In the meantime, I do apologise for any inconvenience to our registered users having to login in all the time.
Cheers,

| To be honest, I don't have this problem anymore. Just thought I'd let you know. Once I pull the site up, I just click on the 'home' button and it shows me logged in. |

Sean?

Right, I've done some 'housekeeping', trashing all my cookies etc and now everything seems to be working as designed. Maybe I had a corrupt cookie? however, I'm sure I was also having the same problem when I logged on from my work PC - I'll trash the cookies there as well when I'm back in. |
