Well has the Red-Eye arrived yet?
And remember you need two flights - FlightBBC1 and FlightBBC4
Great start to the series - maybe a bit low on humour at the start but a cracking storyline.
No spoilers here from me but readers beware - there may be spoilers ahead....
Whistling....'Bring me sunshine'....

Did it start tonight?
Wow. I didn't realize the start of series 2 was going to be so soon. Cool.

| Ooh, and I never saw the last 3 or 4 eps of season one! Have to get my copy of season one back from the friend I lent it to! |

Good start, second flight seems to be delayed (perhaps a Snow delay) .

One thing I spotted - and checked in another forum was that the girl Eve was played by Yasmin Bannerman - who was in Torchwood.

Dave,
Hello! She was Jabe in Doctor Who, though you may not recognize her for the make-up.

Then again, we probably covered that in the Torchwood threads... |

I loved it and noticed that in one scene in the background there's a big poster of Morecombe and Wise - a really nice touch.
For me this is by a long way the most consistently excellent show on the box right now and this second season opener wowed me. It has a great plot, puts the characters through the motions well and has a fantastic conclusion. Even Danny from Hustle was excellent (I like him as an actor but feel he has been a tad over-exposed of late).

Yeah, not to pick on Marc Warren, but he just seems to be everywhere the last few months... and in increasingly creapy roles (saw Hogfather at Christmas time -- freaky stuff from Mr. Warren that) |

Off the top of my head - Hogfather, Hustle, Doctor Who, Dracula and now Life on Mars. I'm sure he's done other stuff that I'm totally unaware of. Plus this character was *very* similar to his character in Hustle which is, of course, produced by the same company. It feels quite incestual.
He was good here (and he was wonderful in Love and Monsters) but he runs the risk of doing a lot of samey parts as you say. |

He was good here. Tho' I thought the episode seemed to tie itself up a bit too conviently (now the good guy has convinced the coppers that the bad guy is crazy? and while a mental out-patient in the present he tried to kill Sam? Don't know... just felt forced to me). |

So I have a challenge.
Name all the TV shows (ok, sure, and movies) that were named after David Bowie songs that have no direct relationship to a Boiwe work (ie: The Ziggy Stardust movie doesn't count, nor would Labyrinth, as they are directly involved with Bowie's work.)
1) Life on Mars
2) Golden Years (the Steven King mini-series)
I know the most obvious at present, but thought I'd leave that up to you guys.
Go!
Sean.

Oh my, what do we win?
OK... there is such a catalog of Bowie songs (several hundred tracks in my iPod/iTunes alone). I am sure I will miss some movies or TV shows that carry the name of a Bowie song.
Of course there is the upcoming spin-off series, Ashes to Ashes which is from a song off of Bowie's 1980 album, Scary Monsters.
There is Seven (Hours album) and there is a film by the same name (AKA "Se7en").
There is Heroes from an album by the same name, there was also a film by the same name in 1977 starring Henry Winkler and Harrison Ford... there is also a television series currently in production that everyone is talking about which I still haven't seen except for a clip of it when Christopher Eccelston shows up.
Hmm... Let's get these out of the way first:
Fame (there was a movie and a television series)
Big Brother
Dead Man Walking
Seven Years in Tibet
Fantastic Voyage
Beauty and the Beast
Starman
1984
Some others:
Absolute Beginners
Cat People (Putting Out the Fire)
When the Wind Blows
Velvet Goldmine
Buddha of Suburbia
More:
The Man Who Sold the World (upcoming movie still in production)
Let's Dance (movie with Fred Astaire)
China Girl (2 movies)
The Wedding
Changes
Quicksand
Look Back in Anger
Breaking Glass
All Saints (Australian TV)
Warszawa (Polish film)
Under Pressure
Blackout
Fascination
Five Years
Thursday's Child
Young Americans
Hmm... I know there are others... Such as shorts, silent films, documentaries, among others.
Of course movies, concert films/videos, and television shows that were directly about David Bowie were omitted as well.
David Bowie appeared in Absolute Beginners, so like Labyrinth, that may need to be omitted as well.
Cheers,
Louis |
