Oh dear, I almost wish I wasn't the first to report this. It appears there is to be an American remake of Life on Mars here. American remakes of British television are usually horrible parodies of the originals designed for the mass media consumption of the American market with no thought going into the ideas the original was trying to present. On hold for now and I for one rather hope it stays that way.
Cheers,
Mike M. |

We had heard talk of this for some time now. I hope it never gets off the ground. Just watch the real original version. Why does everything need to be remade? I fear an American version would just be an over exaggeration of the original concept. If it takes place in 1973 it will be filled fill cliches and stereotypes of '70's culture and that time period.
Just watch the original.
Cheers,

Just a bump. How many more to go now? Ep 6 last night some great comedy moments with Gene ranting. Really liked Ep 5 I thought it worked very well.
Cheers,

Like this one our of Ep5?
"As for you I can just about handle you driving like a crack head and treating women like bean bags but I'm going to say this once and once only Gene, keep out of Camberwick Green!"
I'm not sure how that works for you non-UK types who fly over specially to see it but that is a truely classic quote as was the little Camberwick Green clip! |

Simon Mayo interviewed John Simm on his BBC Radio 5 show last Friday and a 25min podcast interview is available here.
Click on the 'Friday' tab and you can either listen online or download the podcast. Be quick though, it's on available until this Friday (30th March). The blurb from the site says:-
He's gone back in time from 1973 to 1888: fresh from playing Sam Tyler in Life on Mars, actor John Simm tells Simon Mayo about his latest role as Vincent Van Gogh.
There is also some brief discussion of Doctor Who!
Previously Simon interviewed Philip Glenister (DCI Gene Hunt). The Podcast is no longer avilable online but I still have it in my iTunes if anybody would like to hear it? |

Ok, here it is nearing the end of March, and this is the first I'm hearing that Life On Mars, which I'd been looking forward to, has already been playing????
Why did I not see this story at the left?

You lose points I'm afraid. In the new politically correct world we live in they are now called 'refuse collectors'

I just finished watching the Camberwick Green/kidnapping ep. I liked it a lot, but it almost seemed like it was set up so John Simm could film separate from the rest of the cast.
Also, since I've been avoiding this thread until I watched the episode I just now went to find the John Simm/Simon Mayo podcast and it seems like I missed it. Now it looks like they have a Freema interview...
Simon talks to actress Freema Agyeman, who makes her debut in the new series of Dr Who, as his new assistant, Martha Jones. She gives us the lowdown on what it was like to battle galactic stormtroopers with David Tennant.
/-edit-/
And I just now noticed BadWolf very recently posted a new thread about said Freema Mayo podcast. D'oh! |

So I supose we need a star point system for rubish puns now. And no I don't mean "rubish puns" I mean rubish puns . I suppose that is a 2.5 on the scale.

Life on Mars has just ended.
But no spoilers in this post.
I'm just furious with the BBC at the end - because 4 seconds into the final credits - with your whole self being involved it the last few closing scences - a daft announcer comes on talking about whats coming on next - totally snapping you out of the moment.
I've just been on the BBC site telling them what I think!!

It depends if you're using refuse the noun or refuse the verb. |
