I thought I'd start a thread for Ashes to Ashes as there has been some casting news for who will play Gene's new 'side kick' in Ashes to Ashes
[Quote by: BBC News]
Spooks star Keeley Hawes has been cast as Philip Glenister's new sidekick in Life on Mars sequel Ashes to Ashes. |

Cool...I'm cautiously anticipating this sequel/spin-off. I really loved Gene Hunt so I'm glad I'll be getting more of him. But I'm still not sure how I feel about the change in decade, etc. I'll just have to wait and see how they do it. |

I'm going "Full Circle" and putting my avatar back to what it was when I first joined. :)

I heard 'think of Miami vice' which actually quite tickled me Gene Hunt in a white suit and shades lol!
I found this on wikipedia and I thought it was quite interesting:
[Quote Ashes To Ashes is a forthcoming British television drama series, a spin off from the popular Life on Mars series which ran for two series in 2006-2007. It is a Kudos Film & Television production for BBC Wales, to be broadcast on BBC One.
Ashes To Ashes will feature DCI Gene Hunt (played by Philip Glenister) as its main character. He will be joined by a female detective from the 21st century, DCI Alex Drake, who is stranded in 1981 after an accident. She will be played by Keeley Hawes. Also reappearing are Chris Skelton (played by Marshall Lancaster) who is stated to be a "technical wizard" and Ray Carling (played by Dean Andrews) who have followed and remained loyal to Gene and they have all transferred to the Metropolitan Police in London. As with the parent series, the show's name comes from a David Bowie song of the era in which it is set. The Times reported that this spin-off would pick up the lives of Gene Hunt and other characters from the series in 1981. BBC Wales Head of Drama Julie Gardner confirmed that the spin-off was to be produced during an interview for BBC Radio Wales in March 2007.
Since Alex Drake is said to have spent months (in 2008) poring over detailed reports left behind by Sam Tyler (John Simm's character from Life On Mars) Ashes To Ashes seems to take the position that Sam's 2006 life was real, with Alex patterning her 1981 on Sam's reports. Sam himself will not be appearing in the new series, with actor John Simm quoted as saying, "My instinct tells me not to hang around too long"

Sorry, I tried to edit it as I wanted to white out the quoted bit, but it kept giving me an error message, if an admin could do it I'd be very grateful. |

Well the source doesn't mention 'text color="white" '
EDIT ie the # plus color value
SECOND EDIT - or "font color=white"

So - is anybody watching this? What do you think so far? Personally, I'm loving it - but then I was an 80's child. |

Yes - the second episode only seemed to come to life in the second half - which I thought was good.
Had an awful 'Torchwood moment' I thought when the two women were in the bar - I thought - 'Oh no, the mum's going to 'hit' on the daughter!'
Thank goodness they didn't go that way with the story.
Cheers, daveac
