Some Under-rated Sci-Fi Movies (and Why) Views: 7091

I've decided to list some of my favorite Sci-Fi movies that no one else seems to enjoy -- ya'll might though. Granted, I don't know that I would call these "under-rated," more of B-film easy-listening type stuff.

The Philadelphia Experiment - the US Navy in WWII begins to experiment with a radar blocking device that makes the ship itself disappear from time and space instead of just making it invisible.

The Blob - the original with Steve McQueen. While I don't think its quite underrated, I had to mention it as I am continually surprised how many people my age don't even know of its existance (btw, I'm mid-30s).

The Phantom - okay, this movie is kind of crap, but it's got Catherine Zeta-Jones, Billy Zane as the Phantom, Treat Williams as the baddie, and Kristy Swanson as the damsel in distress... just funny stuff.

    Krull - already mentioned

Escape from Witch Mountain - just remember how wonderous this movie was the first time you saw it as a kid. A bit creapy, but very cool for Disney, I thought.

Lair of the White Snake - this is the only movie to ever give me nightmares! Amanda Donahoe (sp?) and Hugh Grant. You could argue that its not sci-fi, but horror, but I think anything that includes the supernatural is in essence sci-fi.

    supremacy is relative

How about The Last Starfighter? I imagine that if I were to see it as an adult I would be pretty unimpressed, but back in my early adolescence, it was a pretty exciting movie. What 12-year-old wouldn't want to be recruited to save the universe as a result of playing video games? Smile
