Did anybody else happen to see both seasons of Carnivale?

Yup, I got both seasons on DVD and consider it one of the greatest television programmes ever made and feel it is a travesty that they did not do a final season as originally planned. It has the beauty of almost being a novel as each episode is like a chapter and the first season could almost be viewed as the first book in a trilogy as all the characters are introduced and put in place for the action in the second season. Although to begin with it is complex and you often wonder what is going on it all makes sense at the end and once you get in a rhythm you can actually predict what is going to happen just from listening to the odd cryptic line. I recommend it to everybody although it does have a few nasty bits and can be disturbing... But in a great way which is one of the signs of quality television. It is beautifully shot, written and acted and is about as close to "perfect television" as I can think of (it is an HBO production, after all) and I would even go so far as to say that "Carnivale" is a work of genius!!!

Magpie... You have hit upon a hobby horse of mine as I was really, really upset by the way it ended and how a third season promised so much... I am gutted that there is no resolution!!!

AMEN! Yeah! I loved this show & was so sad to see it prematurely put to rest. There's only a few spots in series 2 where I felt they'd rushed things but for the most part, I think they did a very good job of wrapping things up. Though, I'm so disappointed that they did!

The 2 seasons came to us as a christmas gift so for the entire month of January I was walking around thinking & speaking in 1930's carnie-talk. Once some more time goes by I am going to go back & watch it again, but it's so intense you really need a breather.

I've tried to recommend this to people but nobody seems interested - though I had one friend start watching it when I told her Clancy Brown was in it. It really is a great series!

I thought the cast was great and I liked the first season a great deal. I'm not really sure about the second. I saw most of the second and all of the first. I must say I liked the first more. I"m not really sure I understood the second much but it was awhile ago.
