I didn't really want to see this but I did. I'm glad I did. I was plesantly surprised. The movie was well made, well acted, and held at least two major surprises. I will try not to give anything away.
Christian Bale is an amazing actor, one can forgive his eccentricities behind the scenes and in his own life, as he makes this movie worth watching. Anton I can't pronounce his name but he plays Checkov in the new (and awful) Star Trek movie, does a great job as Kyle Reese. Sam Worthington plays another charcater who seems out of time and on a mission and he too goes a great job. The female actresses, given smaller roles, also do excellent acting jobs in this movie. The action is fast and varied, the thing makes sense and there's at least one shock twist I didn't expect and didn't see coming! Actually about two big ones.
I don't why I should have been surprised. This franchise, at least in the movies, if not the slower moving and frankly boring TV show, has always been good and delivered the goods. Terminator was a good movie, Terminator 2 was a great movie, Rise of the Machines was good, too but what a down ending.
Anyway this one is worth your time! |

I saw the movie today, too, and thought it was pretty good. Without giving too much away, I thought the best part was a scene where John Connor fights an Arnold-T800. The guy they got to play Arnold looked very much like him. So much so that I had to stick around for the credits to double-check. Overall, better than the 3rd movie, but not quite up to par with 1 & 2. I'd be kind of lost if I didn't know anything about the other Terminator movies, but people that have seen the others will like this one.
However, I absolutely have to disagree with your assessment of the TV show. True, it just got cancelled, but it was hardly boring, and imho was a very good compliment to the franchise to go along with the movies. Whereas the movies mostly focus on the Connors being chased around by a Terminator, the TV show was more about the Connors going on the offensive to stop the individual pieces that will eventually become Skynet of the future. And the final episode of the series featured probably 1 of my top 5, maybe even top 3, cliffhangers of all-time. It was a shame they had to end it and leave us hanging the way they did. |

Far from a dead horse, this movie was actually good. Think maybe you got it mixed up with the Trek ratings success, quality failure.
Yeah I lost interest in the TERMINATOR TV SHOW a long time ago really, about the start of season two. That just seemed boring compared to all the movies. I love the cast though. |
