Okay,
I'm a gadget junkie, so when my wife told me last night that she wanted an iPod to listen to music while at work and said she wanted a "pretty" one like the aqua colored iPod mini I've had for at least 2 years, I happily gave it to her and went out and bought myself a nice "Manly" black Video iPod!
Now, I've heard the guys on the Podcast talk about "enhanced" podcasts and since I'm a 1 day newbie to Video iPod, is this a function of the video side of the new iPod and if so, do I need to subscribe differently to the podcast than I do now with iTunes?
Any advice from the Gallifreyan experts would be appreciated! |

If the files you are getting are the AAC files, then you have the feed with the enhanced podcasts. The unehanced feed gives MP# files.
The enhanced podcasts are best listened to on iTunes at the computer, as you can click on links and such to take you to the item that is bein gdiscussed. The best you will get on the video iPod is to get to see a picture of the item being discussed, or logo, or whatever Louis decided to embed in the feed.
See Podshock for the two different feeds.

Taras explained it great. What you will get with the Enhanced Podcast AAC file on your new iPod with video will be the chapter stops so you can skip and go back to any chapter you like. It will also display the various artwork/photos throughout the podcast (usually relating to what is being discussed at the time). Of course as with other iPods, it will bookmark your place while listening so if you stop and go back to it later, it will pick up right were you left off (the non-enhanced podcast will do that as well on an iPod).
As Taras mentioned, as far as the URLs go, at the moment, iPods do not connect to the web... so the URLs feature in the Enhanced Podcast can only be accessed via iTunes on your computer.
Enjoy your new iPod!
Cheers,
Louis |

Yes, chapter stops are great for avoiding spoilers. Also, some people like to use them to avoid a rant gone on a tangent. I hear this through anecdotal evidence: I've never witnessed it.
I don't use the chapter marks much, because I usually listen to the podcasts that I subscribe to in their entirety. but these work in both iTunes and on the iPod.

| No, i've never skipped a rant in my life, well except for the constant Scfi channel rants, and the love and monsters rants and the satsuma rants and the tshirt rants, and the James replaced by Colin rants |
