Don't expect those 'guests' on the podcast - it's just that they will also be at the Boston JumpCon.

Well, never say never. They may indeed be on the podcast with us. The details are still all coming together.

Report to 'M' - I mean Louis ;-)
I'm gradually getting PodShock ratings placings sorted out on TalkShoe after mistakes on the pdf file of the Top100.
We were place at 100th with 22 for the first week in June.
Well I counted and logged 42 - and with in-ans-out visitors I got up to 59.
Anyway the figures have been comfirmed as in error with the Live listenner count now at 71.
I've asked for a re-check of the ranking as well.
Cheers, daveac

I don't have instructions for international dailing but here is the link for the basic VoIP FAQ in TS. Keep in mind you may have to enter the numbers (call ID and PIN) more than once due to tones not properly being translated via the net.

I have lied.
Its not something Im proud of but it had to be.
Let me explain Sundays is normally a day when I am out and not back until 7:15 - 7:30pm UK Time. So thats 2:15 - 2:30pm EST.
So I have told a lie that I am going out Sunday evening and am being picked up from home at 5:00pm UK time, 2:00pm EST.
Being involved in this community makes me lie lol.
Seriously though I can't miss this podshock. Unless the episode is a turkey. But then still I will want to come on. |

| That's an achievement, and it should of course be noted. However, I do feel obliged to point out that as we've been climbing at TalkShoe, our numbers have dramatically slipped at PodcastAlley. We used to be solidly ranked in the top 20 of all Film/TV podcasts, and were clearly the #1 Doctor Who-related podcast. Those days, sadly, are past. Still, it's remarkable that we haven't even gained 50 votes in the last year, nor have we gotten a comment over there in about a year. During 2006/7 we'd typically get about a comment a month. All this seems to suggest, however imprecisely, that we've stopped attracting new listeners.
I wonder sometimes if we're really still a podcast or just a publicly accessible conference call. While that call is still fun, It bothers me somewhat to hear the Podshock Live! recordings being referred to as, simply, "Podshock", cause they're not the same animal, any more than a kitten is a lion. |

| I really enjoy listening to the podacasts but Louis, do you think you could turn up the volume on your microphone this week ? sometimes I can barely hear you. I download the show off Talk shoe & listen on my iPod. |

Indeed. That's the whole discussion from earlier in the year. They really are two completely different animals. Podshock was an audio magazine but it is now an audio message board/forum and increases of tens or hundreds or participants or listeners on one side have resulted in losses of thousands of listeners on the other.

A mixure of the two - Live & Studio - was most peoples idea of the best mix.

Most people who already take part in the live forum style shows or participate in the forum...but by any count a tiny minority of those who used to listen to Podshock. It was that very mixture that drove away a large percentage of the Podshock audience. I don't think most have a strong opinion as many, or perhaps most, of them just don't bother listening anymore. Unfortunately blunt but unfortunately true.
It happened very organically and out of necessity but in retrospect mixing two very different formats turned out to not be a good idea and I think the emergence of one effectively killed off the other.

It's been mentioned that the downloads on Podcast Alley are down - and of course the latest episodes have not yet made it to iTunes (sorry Louis) - but is there an agregated total from all the RSS feeds that does show the numbers are down?
ie are we sure the number of total listenners IS down?

Has Jump the Pod production taken up all the time that could otherwise have been devoted to Podshock proper? (Although I understand that Jump the Pod is an actual paying gig and thus would have to take precedence.) |
