As many already know who follow me on Twitter, I have been doing a countdown to today... Tonight specifically.
I even mentioned it in other threads here that there was some possible good news on the way.
So... what is it? What's all this fuss about?
Well, it is a big move for me personally, but it has ramifications that will benefit Doctor Who: Podshock and it's listeners.
After seven years working with tech and media within the non-profit sector... I am making the jump...
Jump... JUmp... JUMp... JUMP...
...to JumpCon!
Yep, I will be working for JumpCon! Well, you know what it may mean for me, personally. I am making a move professionally working in a field that I enjoy and one which has room for growth.
What does that mean for you?
There will be a new JumpCon podcast which I will be producing and hosting along with Ken (yep, I recruited the best again). It will be covering a larger palette than just Doctor Who, as this new podcast will be covering all science fiction and fantasy genres.
Since JumpCon has been so gracious in bringing Doctor Who guests to their convention line up, it means we will have access to those guests for Doctor Who: Podshock as well.
Plus, the two podcasts will work together in helping each other out other ways, I am sure. It is really a win-win situation for both.
After seven years working in non-profit, although it did have its own rewards, it is time for me to move on... and this is a wonderful opportunity. I am very excited about the move and looking forward in bringing more content to you as well as new audiences.
It's great news all around... Though on a personal note, this move also comes in the shadow of another death which my family and I are coming to terms with at this time. So there is a great deal of different emotions at play.
With that said, I invite you all to make the JUMP with me. I will keep you posted on the new show (or shows) here on our site. Also fear not, we are not slowing down with Doctor Who: Podshock, to the contrary, we will be launching the live spin-off podcast and perhaps other surprises are in store for you as well. Watch the feeds.
Cheers,
Louis |

Great news Louis. I still love this JumpCon Idea and have from the very begining. I wanted to mention it on the live show the other day but I forgot. Ken did at the end though. I am still trying to scrape up enough money to get to Boston or Stamford. I have a countdown on my MySpace page. I love to have pictures taken with celebrities and Jumpcon makes so easy. I have to many good things to say about it.
My condolences to you and you family. |

| Congratulations. You deserve it after the years of pleasure that you have given us with Podshock. And comiserations, I know what it is like to lose more than one family member in close succession. Stay strong. |

Congratulations.
I just cannot believe that JumpCon is only getting as close as Iowa to me.... sigh. I guess a road trip to Coralville is called for! |

| I may go to that one. Our friend Joe (Omega) is in Iowa. So is author Lars Pearson. |

I can't forget your little anti-Iowa rant, Ken, in an episode a while back. Let us not forget that Iowa gave us Doctor Who in the early 70s -- that's where I saw Pertwee, long before Baker arrived on our shores. And Iowa Public Broadcasting continued to show Doctor Who throughout the 90s and still shows it today, I believe. It was the only station still showing classic DW for a long time. I haven't lived in Iowa for many years, but I fondly remember that state as the one that hooked me on the Doctor. So pick another podunk state for your anti-yokel rants, Ken.
Love and kisses,
Neil |

(I actually started writing this message hours ago, I just never finished it until now)
Thanks for all the well wishes... both here, via email, and on Twitter.
I just returned from the funeral... It's still hard accept another passing. Not that it's ever a good time for something like this to happen, but of course I never expected it to happen right in the middle of making this transition.
Aside from that, it is a very exciting time. Both Ken and I are looking forward to working on the new podcast. We have some thrilling stuff planned for it.
Thanks again (for the congratulations and the condolences -- wow, it's been such an emotional roller-coaster).
Cheers,
Louis |

Sorry to hear about your losses. No words can express how difficult it is to deal with the loss of loved ones. Take your time and don't forget to enjoy this slice of goodness smiling on you with your transition.
Its wonderful to hear stories of folks you know or know of getting paid to do something they love, especially when it is Who related.
Might i offer a suggestion about for Podcast/Jumpcast etc. I really enjoyed the primer you guys did for Gallifrey and it would be great to do that for Jumpcon. I have to admit I've been to the Jumnpcon site and can't figure out the a la cart system. Are there other events to attend than just the a la cart ones you pay for? So just even the basics of how the con works would be cool for novices like me. |
