[Quote  by:  sfHeath] Thanks, Louis, I figured it was something like that. It's just such a wierd choice for background music. My best guess is that they thought they were playing the "Blade Runner" soundtrack, since that's science fiction, and "Destinies" was a sci fi show...

Was this a radio program that you listened to back then? Did they often back the interviews with unrelated music?

Yeah, Blade Runner at least has science fiction connection. I love Vangelis' work on that soundtrack. But this had the theme of Chariots of Fire which is not part of Blade Runner...

I couldn't listen to this radio show even though the show was on a Long Island radio station, it was out of range for me where I lived. The problem with Long Island is that it is indeed long.

Our next item from the archives to be presented on our podcast will be another interview we did on the Destinies radio show... It was recorded a year after the Jon Pertwee one... So everyone will have an opportunity to hear if there is background music in this one, if so, it would be safe bet that it was a standard practice of the programme.

I already posted in the comments for eps 57 and 58, but I just wanted to say again how much I enjoyed both the Jon Pertwee and the Colin Baker interview. Big thanks for sharing those with us. The interview with Pertwee was just amazing, and hearing Colin Baker talk about getting the boot so soon after it happened was really interesting. Can't wait to hear the rest of your old interviews.

I'm going "Full Circle" and putting my avatar back to what it was when I first joined. :)

Thanks again, Linquel. Big Grin It is a damn shame that the BBC won't allow David Tennant to do convention appearances while in his role as the Doctor... and I somehow doubt that Christopher Eccleston will be doing them anytime soon. But back 'in the day' it was fantastic meeting and interviewing the likes of Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, and Sylvester McCoy. Along with so many of the actors and actresses that made up many of the Doctor's companions (and foes such as Anthony Ainley).

If we can pass along some of that magic to people today via podcasts, all the better.

To answer sfHeath... Yes, there is background music during the Colin Baler interview that the Destinies radio show added... So I assume it was standard practice for them (at least at that time, I don't know about today). Though it was not Chariots of Fire this time.
