I have been listening to PODSHOCK for about a month now and after the review of the TARDIS money bank I just had to get one. It was just delivered to me today and all I have to say is 'FANTASTIC !'
Here are a couple photos of it taking up a place of prominence on my desk.

Also I wanted to let everyone know that the proper batteries for this (and the Sonic Screwdriver) are readily available at your local Radio Shack. Just get the '357' watch battery (retails for just over $3.00/each) and you are good to go. |

I am glad you like it... I wasn't sure if my review did it justice or not... they did a real nice job with it. Now I want get one of those mobile phone TARDIS ringers...
Thanks for including the Radio Shack number for the batteries as well. That's really my only complaint with this and the sonic screwdriver is that it should come with batteries to get you started at least. Especially since it is not a common battery size.
It is looking good on your desk... And I like your TARDIS desktop image as well on your monitor... Looks a little like a TARDIS under water.
Cheers,

OK, I just clicked on the images for the larger view and see that it is actually an image of the TARDIS in space... not under water...

I saw the mobile phone TARDIS....I wonder how that works ? I thought about getting one but then I thought maybe it would only work with mobile phones from the UK. The descriptions i've seen of it are kind of sketchy and dont really tell you how it works exactly.
Maybe James could shed more light on that ? |

It is Christmas in January, as everybody seems to be getting their Doctor Who merchandise. Well, enjoy! And if you save enough coins in your bank, then you can get the next round of collectables.

Tom Dillihunt (Podcast Who) did a video podcast reviewing the TARDIS Phone Flasher, and it works in the US. Considering Tom lives in the US...
In fact in the podcast the TARDIS Phone Flasher went off before his cel phone did.
The review was quite cool.
It sold me. I ordered one right away. (Still waiting on it to be shipped from 10th Planet, though.)
And now I've seen enough on the Bank to want one of those as well. They sure seem to be well constructed, and look really good. More like models of a TARDIS than an object just shaped like a TARDIS.

Same here, I was not even thinking of getting the phone flasher until I saw Tom's review of it... But when I tried to order one, everyone was sold out... (this was before the holidays, I haven't checked lately).
I think the flasher works the same way mobile cell phones can cause interference with audio equipment, it detects the signals nearby and goes off. It's pretty cool.
My plan is to have it in my office so whenever a mobile phone goes off, the TARDIS will begin to flash and groan.
Now that David Tennant is the Doctor and will be for at least another year... I wonder if some of these collectables will be updated with his likeness such as the Money Bank when you open the doors. It would not be the first time, there was another TARDIS money bank long ago, basically a tin box with a slot which had the 4th Doctor, Tom Baker imprinted on one side as if he was coming out of the door... and then the same exact bank was made with Peter Davison, the 5th Doctor. Neither had any lights or sound effects.
Cheers,
Louis

Oh yeah! That tin Tardis bank. Forgot all about that. I have a Peter Davison one somewhere, must be in the attic...
Wish I felt like I could afford the new Tardis bank, it looks great. But I think my sonic screwdriver is all I can get away with for now...

| I watched Tom's review of the phone flasher and was very impressed with it. I found one on Ebay from a reputable seller and promptly purchased it. I hope to get it soon ! |

Hey, my TARDIS arrived yesterday! I bought it from http://www.scificollector.co.uk/ . They said it would take up to 6 weeks to ship (based on their prior experience with highly variable ship times) but it took less than a week.
I'm ecstatic. Very nice item. A tiny bit smaller than I thought it would be, but I'm impressed!
The thing didn't come with batteries, but the company threw in three AG13 batteries in a little envelope, so that was nice. (Or maybe that was something Character Options did after so many complaints about scarcity of the batteries?)
Anyway, I put them in, and I got bad, clunky, jarring sound. So I threw in three fresh ones and it was fine. The three they gave me were just about dead...
No big. I have a huge stock of those batteries (I bought just after getting my sonic screwdriver) so it was no big deal.
The sound is loud. SO loud some of the voice samples seem distorted. But still, not bad.
And the demat effect (light flashing, sound of TARDIS dematerializing) was quite good!
Sadly, it doesn't actually disappear and reappear, but as soon as that tech is invented, I'm sure it will. :-)
The thing is, ever since I built my first TARDIS model back in the 80s, I have been trying to get a cheap, easy fading light effect for it, but have never found anything that would work effectively.
Now I have. I think I will be buying a second one of these, so I can install it in my GI Joe-sized TARDIS.
Or perhaps I should wait until I get my Phone Flasher, to see if that would do the job instead. Cheaper, with basically the same sound effect and light effect.
Anyway, mine's arrived, and I'm quite happy with it. Thought you all would like to know that this really is worth buying.
One somewhat cynical co-worker quotes: "Ehhh. if we could all fit in it, I'd be more impressed." but that's just him.
Sean.

Happy day indeed. Enjoy poking at the doors while your AG-13s (or 357As) last. I also bought about 30 of them pretty cheaply when my sonic screwdriver arrived (batteries, not TARDISes). I'm thinking of getting another TARDIS bank for the office... or maybe the phone flasher... hmmm, decisions, decisions.
