10 JANUARY 2008 | MERCHANDISE | FOB WATCH
Expect eBay to be awash with CHARACTER OPTIONS latest "toy".
The Doctor's Fob Watch is a highly detailed (and fully functional - as a watch, of course) replica of the fob watch used by both the Doctor and the Master. It features speech, lights and sound effects.
RRP: £14.99. Suitable for five year olds plus and adults of-a-certain-age.
sadly it looks plastic...

Seriously?
Looks awesome, well £15 for a detailed toy of a prop the plastic option was probably best.
It might be oversized as well to accommodate the voice/sound effects etc.
No matter what I'm liking it!

I'd probably rather someone pushed the boat out and did a proper reproduction watch, as opposed to a plastic job.
I'm not a massive fan of the screwdrivers and reproduction style items (Judoon Scanners etc) that Character do, but that's just me. They're clearly very popular with everyone else.
I do remember Smitty was actually asking for one of these months ago. |

Yes I did!
It looks pretty darn close to what I thought it would be if it was made into a rolepaying toy/accessory. Oh I've seen a few more pics and it is not oversized.

I then recalled that the fob watch from HN/FOB/U was a little big as well.

Is this plastic? If so, that is a shame. Didn't there used to be another Doctor Who FOB watch available some years ago which was pewter or something. I think I have it (though it may have broke on me). Memory is a little hazy on it now, perhaps it had the seal of Rassilon and the DW logo (similar to the 1996 video movie)...
This is nice, but I would prefer a proper watch, not a toy.
Cheers,

I was told there were a few of these in the dealers room at Gallifrey 2008. They were the first to sell out as well. But unfortunately, I was also told they are made out of plastic. Oh well... It's just a toy.
Let me know when some company makes a real FOB watch replica.

I saw this at the Toy Fair last week. I met Robyn and Matt from Underground, and they were great. Robyn's British, which surprised me a bit. Nice lady.
I took this photo of the fob watch toy. It's basically full-sized, and looked good. I didn't ask her to take it out of the case, but I should have. I got this photo, not of the interior, though.

And the better news still is that this:

is a real fob watch! This will also be available. It's somewhat smaller than the real deal. If the original is 8cm across, this must have been about half-scale at 4-5cm across.
Oh... and for those who wish to be envious:

That's a real BBC Dalek that got shipped over for the Toy Fair show, and I was told it would be at Forbidden Planet in New York for a while as well, on display, before it returns to England.
Sean.

Cool. Do you know when this is going to be available? I wish it was full scale and I wish the watch face plate matched the original one better, but if it is real (i.e. not a plastic toy), I will take it (if it is priced reasonably).
Cheers,
