| I read in TOYFARE magazine that DW toys should be hitting the US store shelves in December. Has anyone seen them yet? |

The US *and* Canada in fact.
What is supposed to happen is that a limited number of the toys will be available to North American retailers as of this month with a bigger release of the product line scheduled for next year. However being available doesn't mean that every toy store will actually place an order.
The chances are that outside of specialty shops many/most of the people that handle ordering (especialyl in the US) may not be familiar with Doctor Who or the toy line. If you wait for them to appear on the shelves it might not ever happen. The best thing that people can do is go into their local stores and let them know about the product line and encourage them to stock it.

I'm looking at ordering some stuff, like a sonic screwdriver, maybe a TARDIS for my desk at home and some action figures. Can anyone recommend a good online shop to use? Also, I've never ordered from the UK before, is it a lot more money?
I'd rather order from a US supplier to help support the cause of stocking Doctor Who merchandise on this side of the Atlantic. |

Dr. Hoo, the best site I know is www.whona.com.
They currently (as of yesterday) had the Sonic Screwdrivers in stock. $12.95.
They have lots of great stuff, and their prices are excellent for North America (you'd pay a lot more to get them shipped from the UK.)
For example, the new R/C Daleks (black and gold) are $49.95.
Most of the available 5" action figures are $9.95, and the 12" Cyberman with arm gun is $19.95.
No price gouging there, and their ship prices are quite good. No gouging on shipping either.
I've used them a half-dozen times and trust them completely.
They also have Doctor Who Adventures, the cool kids' magazine which contains cool extras with each issue (like a real TARDIS alarm clock that came with issue #1!)

Haven't seen any of the domestic merch in my neck of the woods yet - but several local comic shops and the like have confirmed that many things have in fact been ordered and will be coming in soon.
Not sure how much of it I'll grab, as I already imported a great deal of stuff since the onslaught of new goodies came out - but still, I'd love to score a TARDIS playset without paying the ridiculous shipping costs from overseas. Hopefully that item will make it out here as well very soon! |

Most of the comic and toy stores in my area have told me they won't be able to get any of the Doctor Who toys in because they have to order items in by the case instead of individually and they just don't have the demand in their market to do that.
I don't know if this is true or if they don't want to startdoing special orders, but this includes the local shop that I have my subscription with for Doctor Who Magazine and am already doing business with on a very regular basis.

Thanks Sean! Great advice!
I ordered a 10th Doctor Action Figure, the Talking TARDIS bank and a 10th Doctor Sonic Screwdriver (which a lot of reviews are saying is an improvement over the 9th Doctor model).
Can't wait for the stuff to come in! |

Hmmm... wow. Ok, I didn't even pay any attention to the new Sonic Screwdriver, I thought it was just a re-issue.
But it looks like it might be molded from the correct ivory color rather than the clay color of the previous release.
Looks like I'm gonna have to pay up and get me a new one.
Thanks for pointing that out!
Sean.

WhoNA seems to be the cheapest and quickest of the North American web retailers when it comes to Doctor Who merchandise. On the minus side, their popularity has increased quite a bit due to word of mouth like this, that some high demand items sell out within hours of them being posted on the site. They also have great service as well.

Missed it the first time around, then they were out of stock. They're in stock again, and mine just arrived!

Yup. We can get'em on-line & a few specialty shops, like Comic Book stores. But certain in-store exclusive figures available in the UK are not available to us here. ie: CyberLeader in chair with Cyberman guards. |
